Many thanks to Sarah and BOTBS Publicity for my spot on this Blog Tour.
A pervert at play. He raped and killed women. DI David Stark was at the helm of this investigation until things turned personal.
My first book by Keith Wright, the story was a thrilling police procedural in the 1980s when DNA analysis had just come in. The police had to depend on careful search for clues and to scrutinize every angle. I loved the old fashioned investigation which relied on instincts and intelligence.
The team worked hard to get to the killer, they were individualistic. Being my first book in this series, it was fun getting to know their personalities and way of working. Some of the words weren’t politically correct or sensitive, the author had captured the right atmosphere in those times.
The way of writing was a bit dry almost like a police report. I got both the sides of the spectrum, the killer’s thoughts as well as the cops. The plot ended with a shocker of a scene followed by the final reveal. There was a race against time in the plot line where I kept hoping that Stark would reach in time.
Overall, a police procedural from an author new to me, I read with bated breath. Sigh…
I received a free ARC from Sarah and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
Christmas is Murder!
It is 1987. A perverted criminal sociopath is on the loose. An innocent young woman is murdered in horrific circumstances.
DI Stark announces, ‘Christmas is cancelled,’ and his team investigate; aware that every second the maniac is on the loose, moves him closer to his next victim.
A second woman is raped and brutalised.
How is the killer discovering intimate secrets about his victims? Why does he insist on terrifying them during the lead up to the attacks? What is driving this depravity? Who will the next victim be?
In his attempts to protect the public, DI Stark makes a huge error of judgement, which will have appalling consequences.
