She is none other than Parinitha Konanur, who has written and illustrated her own book. She is smart and clearly talented and she needs to raise funds to get her book published.

Ajji quite literally means Grandmother in the South Indian Language Kannada. She is full of life and full of stories, she loves to walk and she does so without a cane. She loves all of nature and grew up near a forest and is enchanted by all the creatures in it. She has a lush growth of vegetables in her vegetable garden in her village home. Mili is an 8-year-old girl from the city. She is a bunch of contradictions, she is verbose and full of curiosity, she gets bored easily and hates repetition. She loves her city life and all the chaos of it. She has never been to a village and has only seen animals as pets or in a zoo. She is quite afraid of all creatures but curious about them all the same.

About the Author
rps20181013_2342331388251219.jpg

Parinitha Konanur is an artist, illustrator, and designer. She has a degree in fine arts from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and worked as a photographer before becoming a full-time illustrator and designer. She has been exploring the many facets of sketching and illustrations since she fell in love with watercolors, exploring new ways of sketching along with urban sketching and travel sketching. She is a nature lover and is obsessed with natural history illustrations and live sketching in nature. She loves to travel to explore and understand the world around her, with a keen eye and thirst for finding new cultures, colors, themes to bring about in her conceptual drawings and watercolor illustrations.

She started writing a children’s book series Ajji and Mili, to help connect children to nature through stories. She takes watercolor workshops and art jams that enable children to express and create along with helping them develop an interest in art and reading. These workshops help with self-awareness, cognition, and sensory-motor function.

She strongly believes that the world is fast paced and we tend to not observe our surroundings and that sketching is the best way to do so, that through sketching and connecting to nature you can slow down, learn, observe and create.

  1. What a wonderful book. Great work, your review too, Shalini!
Lets have a question: Am i allowed to use your review, translate it into German, and publish a featured article for our monthly magazine “DEEZ”? It could be a great way to recommend foreign books to our most german native readers. And this children book i think can be best. You will get credit, and we can feature links to your blog too. Interested in? 😉 You will find our till this time only german related magazine at: www. issuu. com/smde. Best wishes, Michael.

    1. Thanks Michael, you can put this post. The author has not published the book, depending on pledges, people who would order get book, it would get published. So I haven’t read it. You can help the author by having it translated.
Go ahead, translate and credit me for the reviews….😊😊
