Today I have the sweetest author Robbie Yates here with me, at the end of this blog tour. I am feeling a bit sentimental, a bit nostalgic. It was so fun working and communicating with Robbie

1) Tell me something about yourself. Who is Robbie Yates and what does Robbie Yates do in real life?
My day job’s fun and lively:
I work with kids at schools.
At different times I’ve taught and tutored
(Learning’s such a tool).
Apart from that, it’s simple –
I’m quite a basic bloke.
I like to blog and sometimes jog
And chat with lots of folk.

2) I have seen your blog, it is filled with the cutest poems. Have you always been a poet? What attracts you to the lyrical part of prose?
I think I like the rhythm,
I like how it resounds.
I like how rhymes have patterns,
They’ve logic; ups and downs.
I’ve always written poems
I think they’re hallowed art.
My favorite ones are full of
Burps and belches, Poop and Farts!

3) How did this book come about, did you always want to be a writer? Have you written before this?
I’ve written things of science
I wrote a thesis too.
At first I thought that fiction was
Not something I could do.
But then I started thinking,
I’ve love for books: all sorts!
And soon a fiction storyline
Was running through my thoughts.

4) Tell me something about this book journey? Has it been difficult /easy?
There have been times of struggle,
But mostly it’s been fun.
I loved it, so – behold and lo –
I’m now on my third one!

5) This book is one of the cutest children’s book I have read in recent times. What are your plans for the future?
There’s two more* in the pipeline,
The first one’s coming soon.
I can’t wait til they’re out as well
I’ll just be o’er the moon.
There’s also a collection
Of brand new poetry
That you can get by going here
And – golly gosh – it’s free!

*One Very Odd Teacher (coming soon); The Kooky Kids’ Club (coming Q3 2018)

6) Do you plan to have art work done for future books? Stories with pictures for a younger age group?
The story ‘bout a teacher
Most strange and grumpy too?
Well, that one’s got two pictures
That (gasp) yours truly drew!
I really shouldn’t share them
But you’re so lovely so
For you, my dear Shalini –
I’ll put one in below!

7) Where do you see yourself in the literary world in 5 years?
I hope to have behind me
A dozen books or more,
And if my readers like them,
Well, I’d count that a score!

8) What do you do in your free time, passions other than writing?
I love to go exploring
And geocache as well.
To be outdoors in nature
Is just so simply swell.

9) What is the fun fact about you that nobody else knows (shhh a secret…)
Ooh. Now this one’s tricky.
I’ve given it some thought.
I think I can admit now
That when I laugh, I snort.

10) You trusted me for this blog tour. What made you do so? (thank you for that)
I’d say it was your blog, but
It wasn’t just your posts.
It’s how you interacted
That made you shine the most.
Your back-and-forth with readers,
Your honesty and glow…
Sometimes you read somebody’s words
And straight away, you know.

11) Any last words at the end of this interview?
Oh, just a big fat THANK YOU
To you, Shalini dear,
And thanks to all the readers
Who visited us here.
If anyone has questions
Or thoughts they want to share,
I’ve got a blog and email
And you can find me there 🙂

        1. HE IS JUST FAB. you know me Vijay, I don’t cry, I am not even sentimental but Robbie is one author who holds a special place in my heart. Absolutely understanding, absolutely charming and so positive, that it just worked magic on me. That is the WHOLE TRUTH!!

    1. I am feeling sad Robbie… 😭 You are so much fun. Can’t you have a book release every 3 months and all of them become a big hit?
Can you write a book for 3 to 5 year old with lots of pictures and fun stuff… Hehe my niece is 2.5 years old… I want to buy her lots of books

      1. The blog tour was SO MUCH FUN. It’s so exciting, watching my phone light up and seeing a new notification of a review I get to read… and the bloggers who gave up their time to read, review and write are just phenomenal.

By the way, I literally have “email Shalini to book in next blog tour” on my to-do list. The only reason I haven’t done it yet is that I’m half-way through drafting book 5, so I’m a bit caught up with that!

I’ll send you an email about something for your niece – I wanted to find a way to thank you, anyway, so that might be it 🙂

  1. To everyone, I am really feeling sad that the tour is over. Robbie is the best author one can start a new venture with. He didn’t give up on me. He didn’t ask if I can do it. He just knew it and stayed loyal. I never had to ask him twice for anything. There was just this trust palpable between us. There was never a doubt that things won’t work even when I had a bit of a problem. I have always said I am a mirror. I have only reflected what Robbie thought of me and the way Robbie was with me. It is his sweet nature, his integrity, his honestly which made me work harder for this tour.
Thank you so much Robbie Yates, and I hope all your books are a flying success riding the wings of bestseller, and providing so much joy to all kids

    1. Oh my goodness, Shalini, you have no idea how brilliant you are, do you!

A blogger the other day mentioned to me that I seem to have a lot of motivation – and all I could think about was you, and how tirelessly you work! You are the best ally an author could ever hope for, and I feel like I am forever going to be grateful for the day I stumbled upon that blog post announcing that Digital Reads Blog Tours was looking for books to promote. THANK YOU.

  2. What a beautiful, and fun interview! I’m so glad this tour was a success, and I know your future ones will be too! Great job, Shalini. I’m so glad to have been a part of this and looking forward to the future!💙💙💙

    1. Jessica, my beautiful, beautiful friend. Thank you. You were the first one to join in, didn’t ask me a single question, just stood there by my side. My head bows down in gratitude at the magnanimity of your heart. Thank you so much Jessica… You are there for all blogs tours ♥️❤️💕

      1. You are so welcome. You’re such a lovely person to work with, and I am so grateful I get to be part of what you are doing. I will do my best to support you in any way I can. I’m always an email away, my friend. ❤❤❤

  3. I posted in comments on his blog:
If the interview’r rhymed all phases,
And then put them to you,
    That could create the basis
    Of a really great to-do:
‘Tell me, Robbie, are you married?
And your wife? Is she married too?’
I can’t think what response that carried,
Or if it would be true.
I have an idea he and I are kindred spirits. I do what I call ‘Really Awful Rhyme’.

  4. a cool interview Shalini. I bumped upon Robbie few weeks before and since then never been missing his posts. he is cool and fun, sometimes with a pun.

  5. This is one of the sweetest… definitely most creative and charming interviews I have ever read. Congrats to you Robbie on a wonderful book and interview and congrats to Shalini on a fabulous start to Digital Reads! I look forward to seeing more from you both! 🙂 🙂

  6. I absolutely adore the way this interview was done! I don’t think I have witnessed an author be so creative with Q&A’s before. So glad to have been a part of the tour! Best of wishes to you in all future endeavors, Robbie!

    1. Aww thanks, Brittany! The blog tour wouldn’t have been possible without you, Shalini, and the other awesome bloggers. I am beyond grateful!!!
