Many thanks to Anne Cater and Random Things Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.

OMG Rachel Abbott is a fantastic author, and I am kicking myself for having not read any of her earlier works.

Jo was having dinner when a knock happens on her door which brought its devastation to her life and destroyed her family. Entered the cops Tom and Becky, and the rollercoaster of a thriller started.

This was a story with dual views. I got to see what happened to Jo and how Becky investigated. The story evoked its emotions right from the start. This was one book which zoomed from the get-go. It didn’t allow me to take a deep breath. But who wanted to breathe when the need to know the truth was far more important!! I was on team Jo from the beginning, and she took me through the lot of twists.

The cops too kept the pace flowing, I couldnt fault their investigation. In fact, I loved going on this ride with them. Becky was another character who enamored me. Crumbs and red herrings forced me to keep following this layered case as each chapter showed me different facets. Heard of Mary’s little lamb who followed her?

This book was a perfect psychological thriller, swift pace, with multiple subplots, where the subtle clues pulled me in and secrets revealed at the right time made me gasp. Characterization and emotions was bang-on, the author’s writing catapulted me right into the mystery from the first page.

A book written perfectly and technically sound to thrill me. And believe me, it did. I was supposed to work, but I shut everything off, cosied myself on the bed and read it at one go with no interruptions. Yes, the book was that good.

I received a free ARC from Anne and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Some doors should not be opened.
Some can never be closed.

Jo Palmer’s peaceful and happy life is about to end.

Ash – the man she loves – will be arrested by the police.
Millie – her precious daughter – will be taken from her.

She will lose her friends.
She will doubt her sanity.

Someone is stealing everything Jo loves, and will stop at nothing.

But right now, Jo is laughing in her kitchen, eating dinner with her family, suspecting nothing.

It’s raining outside.

There’s a knock on the door. They are here.
