MY REVIEW
Oh my!! Money did change a lot of people especially when they won the lottery of £17.8 million.
Lexie and Jake bought a lottery every week with the same numbers where 4 of their friends contributed money too. And one day after a dal out with their friends, Lexie bought one. And they won. Then came the nasty from the woodwork wanting a piece of the win.
The author Adele Parks brought out the delicious pearls of human psyche. Good and bad. The writing was on dot. The author added a parallel story about a homeless man who lost his family in a boiler burst. It was obvious there had to some connection, and soon the man Toma played an important role.
With multiple POVs, I was shown the changed dynamics, some of them really horrified me, especially husband Jake. He was a louse. The friends soon brought in lawyers to fight for the slice of the pie.
It was an interesting premise, to begin with, then dragged a bit on the mid section, finally ending in a surprise. I would say there was an honest portrayal of human behavior, especially when they became nouveau-rich overnight.
The characters were quite typical in their attitude. I wished Lexi showed a bit of a backbone in most of the book. But overall it was a fun read.

It was supposed to be the lottery win they’d always dreamed of…
For fifteen years, Lexi and Jake have played the same six numbers with their friends. Over drinks, dinner parties and summer barbecues, the three couples have discussed the important stuff—kids, marriages, careers—and they’ve laughed off their disappointment when they failed to win anything.
But then the unthinkable happens. There’s a rift in the group. Someone is caught in a lie. And soon after, six numbers come up that change everything forever.
Lexi and Jake have a ticket worth millions. And their friends are determined to claim a share.

I am most intrigued by the ending that surprised you!
I agree! Parks did a great job of showing the good and bad in humanity when it comes to money. Wonderful review, Shalini!
You are always ahead of me, I need to get to this one. Glad to see you enjoyed it overall.
This sounds like a really interesting read and a unique storyline too – I think I’ve only ever read one of Adele Parks books but your review is making me want to give her writing another go. Thanks for sharing! 💛
