MY REVIEW
An interesting premise with the concept of if you want to save 3 of your loved ones, you give the names of 3 others as substitute
Chrissie never thought she would agree to it, but she did, on a lark. A difficult circumstance got her to activate her agreement in order to save her best friend. And the people whose names she had given as substitutes started dying.
The whole premise was interesting. I loved that Susi Holliday enmeshed scifi with thriller putting her main character in a moral dilemma, wanting to escape the grief of loosing a loved one and at the same time, being the one who signed off someone else’s death sentence.
I liked that it had a vibe of Michael Crichton with his Sphere but the suspense could be a bit more. The dialogues needed to be sharper but those were minor points. I enjoyed the book far more than her earlier one.
This made my pulse spike to know how she would tie up all the subplots as well as what would happen at the end.
What would you do if someone made such an offer?
