The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole

Digital Reads Reviews is a blog-haven for book posts and tech tips. This is a review of a thriller, the Final Hunt.

Blurb

After John disappeared while hunting – presumed dead from a bear attack – Cameron found the crime photos.

His role in the recent Seattle serial murders was discovered.

The media destroyed her reputation.

She lost her dental practice, is on the brink of losing her home.

Everyone has a secret.

But if her husband could hide the unimaginable from her, who’s to say he’s truly dead?

“What brings you so far from home?” the Alaska State Trooper had asked.

The truth.

My Review

What was it all about

The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole was a thriller set in cold, snowy backdrop of Alaskan remote lands.

Cameron found a few photos at the family cabin. A shocker. Her husband, who had died in a bear attack, was a serial killer.

The Teacher Killer.

The media and cops were behind her, implicating her in the crimes. She was innocent of these crimes.

But

She was hiding a big secret.

How it made me feel

The first 40% was quite exciting. And I loved watching the stakes getting higher as Cameron realized the truth about her husband.

Then the book went on a different tangent of The Final Hunt.

The Good

The premise of the book was fantastic and pulled at the threads of my interest.

I liked Cameron who was caught unaware in the cross-hair of her husband’s crimes.

The story was fast-paced and could be finished in a couple of hours.

The Bad

There was a lot of information about survival in the cold fronts of Alaska.

The entire plot line was underwhelming and predicable.

Unnecessary scenes – so many near deaths – were written in, which didn’t add anything suspense to the plot line.

Insta love and trust was felt for someone who never returned them.

The Conclusion

Much ado about nothing with a lot of unnecessary information – be warned about rabid wolf packs – diluted all the thrill in this thriller.

Just okay

I downloaded the digital version of the book from an online retail, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.
