Many thanks to Rachel and Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on this Blog Tour.
This was a cute read, though a slow and confusing one to start with. A book on family and relationships where friendship and love mattered.
A different family of sorts where Ibby and Maggie brought up their daughter together even when they were not a couple. Ibby was gay. Entered Jordan, a blast from the past, who changed the equation. A rockstar who wrote a song and brought the paparazzi to their doorstep. Secrets were revealed and past came crashing down. Would they survive it all?
My first book by author Lisa Swift was delightful both in its unconventional family setup and their acceptance of each other. At all times, their daughter took priority in all their life decisions.
The author’s conceptualization of characters was mature and developed. Their strength grew over the period of time. Each were quirky and lovable too. Lisa’s portrayal of first love and second chances had me smiling through the pages.
There was a genuineness in the prose where social themes were dealt with, but with a lighter hand. The twist in the end was a good, unexpected surprise. Relationships and family made this book a light and warm breakfast read.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and publisher Hera Books, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Life is a love song when you find the right notes
Maggie and Ibby make up a happy – if unconventional – family. After meeting at university, they now live in the village of Applecroft on the beautiful West Country coast.
Okay, so Ibby’s gay and prone to disastrous dates, while couples’ counsellor Maggie spends her days helping people with their relationship problems despite having no sex life of her own. Nevertheless, they’re devoted to bringing up teenage daughter Amelia – the result of a drunken one-night stand when they were students – in a stable and loving family.
Until a face from the past – in the form of hard-partying rock star Jordan Nash – disrupts their quiet lives. As Jordan struggles with his personal demons and old secrets are revealed, can Maggie and Ibby stay strong? Or will bringing back the past threaten all that they’ve built in the present?

Great review, Shalini! Don’t think I’ve read this author as Lisa Swift but I do have at least one Mary Jayne Baker book under my belt with a second lined up soon! xX
Oooh have to read her books then
Lovely review!
Thank you ❤️
Such a cute cover!🥰
Agreed, cute story too
Sweet and thoughtful review, unusual story, huh?
Very… Quite a different family set up
I covet your superpower reading and reviewing skills – you are the only one I know who could read a 378-page book during breakfast! We must think up a lively Superhero name for you!
It didn’t feel 378 and my breakfast was 3 hours long 🙈🙈tea had to be reheated twice. Thank god for microwave
Ah slow and confusing puts me off for sure! I don’t want to think for the next two weeks!
Then a thriller… Many thrillers. They helped me forget my own life
Sounds like a nice, light break from all the thrillers and horrors. ❤
A sweet read for sure
Lovely review for what sounds like a very sweet story, Shalini!
I see what you mean about confusing.
