My review
A enthralling murder mystery from author Shari Lapena, this whodunit kept me fully engrossed from the first to the last page. I have enjoyed all her books. They are good fun to read without requiring too much concentration.
This books started with a lot of characters that got confusing. I had to take a paper and pen to remember who came with whom and who did what. After the first few chapters, it was easy to follow. The plot arc was simple: 8 people came to the quaint inn deep into the mountains filled with snow and found themselves stranded due to snowstorm with no electricity, no cell network or connectivity, and the landlines were out.
The murder starts… one by one… suddenly … with no way to call the cops
The plot followed the tension filled paths as the characters followed the darkened hallways of the inn, trying to catch or identify the murderer. The snow outside with icicle formation and the isolation of the Inn further made the aura murky. Loved it. The secrets of the various characters kept the doubt and suspicion on the edge. A good rush!
The book did go on the natural finish with the identity of the murderer. The reasoning was a bit meh!!
Overall a good fast read, done in 2 hours.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Transworld Digital, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
My rating : 4 stars

Book blurb
We can’t choose the strangers we meet.
As the guests arrive at beautiful, remote Mitchell’s Inn, they’re all looking forward to a relaxing weekend deep in the forest, miles from anywhere. They watch their fellow guests with interest, from a polite distance.
Usually we can avoid the people who make us nervous, make us afraid.
With a violent storm raging, the group finds itself completely cut off from the outside world. Nobody can get in – or out. And then the first body is found . . . and the horrifying truth comes to light. There’s a killer among them – and nowhere to run.
Until we find ourselves in a situation we can’t escape. Trapped.

Yes this is a proper mystery
Thank you Shalini
Shalini lovely review ♥
Thanks Priyasha❤️
Yes! A winner! Lol
Something about a secluded wintered up inn just lends itself to a good murder mystery. But I will probably avoid cosy inns in Winter, just to be safe… 😄
Hahahaha ya but not to worry this reasoning of murder was pretty far fetched… So you are safe in winter… You are too cute
Hahaha 😊😄😊😂😅😅
my fiance love these type of novels 😀
Great. This is a good murder mystery. Enjoy
This one sounds divine and I always enjoy your thoughts 😉
Thank you… Luckily I don’t put down all my thoughts😉😉😂😂
Great review! This one sounds really great. 😊
This was total fun to read on a Sunday afternoon. Peaceful
Ooh! This sounds really good Shalini! A little reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None? Terrific review!☺️
Yesssss I thought so too… But I didn’t want to put that in the review as it would lead to comparison. And we know Agatha will win…
I am glad you caught it… I tried to be subtle about it 😂😉
You did a great job my friend.🤗
You too take this 💖♥️take my heart… You are stealing it away with your words😘
Aww!🤗
But you still can’t have Roarke’s heart… Hand etc.
Hmm. How about if we alternate weeks?😁
Hmmm That depends on who is not well on that week… 😂😂
I don’t mind cozying up to him when I am down..
Nice review
Thanks 😊
👍
Awesome review Shalini! I’m going to be reading this one soon and at first I was happy to see you liked it but the pen and paper in the beginning scares me a bit, I don’t like feeling like I’ve been given homework to read.
I am sure you would do great. I was having a lazy day with a slow brain hehehe
Sometimes I am fine but I have had that feeling many times before though and then it does feel like I’m studying for a test instead of relaxing reading.
Hahaha it just starts like that, when people die, you have lesser names to remember 😉😉😂😂
LOL! One way to turn death into a positive. 🙂
😂😂
You read an entire book in two hours! 😳 I feel like such a loser. 😔
Enjoyed your review. I’m glad it was easier to remember all the characters as the book progressed.
They died so it was easy to remember them 😉😉😂😂😂
😂
This one sounds like it has great atmosphere! I like the simple old school sounds of it. Not flashy or complicated, just, people come to an Inn, not all of them (if any) will leave!
Luckily they died so I could remember the names of the rest
😂😂😂😂 Something I never thought someone would say!! This is why I love you!!
It is true Nicole, I was so confused, back and forth, back and forth, who is what and with whom, and then one dies and she is the corpse and the next dies, he is dead body and so on. 4 die and I had to remember only 4 till the cops and detectives came… Yayyy.
I love you too, honey
😉😉😂😂
