Black Widow by Jennifer Estep

August is my fantasy month

My review

Is it possible for a book to become better than the previous? – Absolutely

Jennifer Estep has done it again, given me a story which is exciting, thrilling, and fighting fine with elemental magic. This time Gin a.k.a Spider goes against MMM, Madeline Monroe, probably the strongest Elemental in Ashland, even stronger than Gin in some ways. But Gin is cleverer and she always has a plan B and a plan C, probably a plan D too.

The fights, the power play, the mind games and the final duel are absolutely worth their weight in gold. Every emotion of Gin passed through me, every time Madeline played her legal games and tried to kill Gin, it felt as if it was a personal affront to me. I totally channelled Gin here.

This book kept me at the edge of the seat with its twists. Gin was a phoenix rising from the ashes of the fire, and nothing could have prevented me from reading it at one go.

My rating : 5 spidery stars

Book blurb

There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill—and my murder to plan. With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.
