Quite a creepy tale author Amanda James wove when she wrote this book, a story filled with lies and deception uried so deep that they could hardly be visible from the surface.
Karenza and Leo were a happy couple till Leo decided to help himself to the money of his boss. But they were the threatening lot so Leo decided to disappear leaving Karenza alone. And the boss wanted his money back at any cost.
Having read other books by this author, I knew that I would be deceived by her words. I decided to don my detective hat, channel the inner Sherlock and go seeking the truth. Shades of it soon appeared in front of eyes though it did take nearly half the book to decipher the truth.
The story was fast paced and kept me engrossed. I was quite eager to know if I had read the clues right. I had to speed up to get to the end. I loved the main character Karenza. She was bold, loyal, and quite intelligent. The others too pulled at my emotions. Anger being the foremost. So it was fun feeling so much for fictional characters.
But it was the last page that absolutely caused me to freeze. It was chilling and caused me to gasp aloud. Wow
