MY REVIEW
This was a beautiful story of love and loss and a relationship that could never be.
Sofie and Max met in 1976, then in 83 and last in 2000. This book was their love saga as they made the tempestuous journey of the ups and downs of their life from two corners of the earth.
The author Edy Graziani, in her debut, brought to light the vivid emotions of love from the stormy passion of teens to the deep yet rocky love of the New Adult, and finally the adult love.
Sofie was from America and Max from Italy, but they were two parts of a whole. But life was not about love, there is career and family and responsibilities. The author brought out the nuances of those other factors. But nothing could have stopped Sofie to be with her true love in his last wish.
Many of my emotions were wrenched out of me even when I tried to stay strong. Tears flowed when I saw a love that could never be. My heart cried – why not? Why can’t you be together? This was that kind of book which reminded me of my love lost.
The story had a smooth flow and an unspoken rhythm where I couldn’t bear to hear the notes tearing their hearts. But there was a twang or two that didn’t resonate with me. I didn’t like Max much. And something in me felt that their circumstances were not unattainable, if they had worked for it.
It is easy to be in love, but extremely difficult to fall in love with the same person every day and work hard in the relationship. The characters resembled real life and didn’t work hard, especially when they were stable in life and career.
The last few chapters were extremely emotional especially with the expected twist. Overall the book was a delightful read in the twilight. A perfect time to reflect on memories evoked.

What a lovely review. This one may be too angsty for me.
Some books do evoke strong memories for better or for worse. It can be cathartic or devastating to relive old times. I think this was one of those books for you.
