Many thanks to publisher Bloodhound Books for my spot on this Blog Tour.

An intense thriller with a daring protagonist who worked with the cops to get to the killer in the world of the deaf. Author Jocelyn Dexter had created an eerie dark setting of the killer’s mind which caused a shiver to go down my back at the pure evil depicted. Wow!!

Someone was killing the deaf boys, and the cops had nary a clue. Entered Annie Black who was deaf herself but could speak and lip read well. She was attacked by an unknown assailant who left her alive with a promise to return. A race against time followed as the dead bodies piled up.

My first book by this author, I was zapped into the book by the dark premise of a killer torturing the deaf kids. The opening scene told me that I was up against a hardened criminal with a disturbed childhood and no soul. The author quickly brought out my vulnerabilities and fear in the face of such a dark void.

I sided with Annie as her grit and determination and the fiery passion to protect her own saw her being part of the investigation. I too wanted this killer taken down. STAT. The book was fast paced as I couldn’t seem to stop turning pages, every scene written was cleverly placed to raise my dread.

Goosebumps coursed down my body as Annie went on her investigation, each murder more gruesome than the previous. The author knew how to whet my appetite. Honest to goodness, I was scared at the ways the bodies were found. I read the book with bated breath as adrenaline coursed through me.

It was gruesome, it was macabre, and in the darkness arose a great shining beacon of light, the protagonist Annie to guide me to the end. And yes, my breakfast read.

I received a free ARC from the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Silence can be deadly…
What’s the best way to frighten a Deaf person?

Turn off the light.

It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it isn’t funny at all.

Annie Black, who is profoundly deaf, finds herself at the heart of a set of brutal murders. Teaming up with the lead Detective, the pair attempt to understand the psychology driving the killer.

Having a voice, and being able to read not only lips, but body language, Annie realises that the killer is targeting people she knows.

And Annie has lots of friends. Friends now at risk.

Desperate to save those around her Annie and the police find themselves in a race against time to save people in the deaf community.

And as the murders escalate, the killer’s obsession grows.

Will the police untangle the killer’s motivation before it’s too late for Annie?
