Wow!! A book which kept me on my toes until the last chapter and a crafty author who knew how to inject suspense at the right page.

A couple, who were still strangers, on their honeymoon after nearly a year of marriage. An isolated cabin in the mountains with hiking trails and patchy mobile network. Newspaper articles of hikers being attacked. Trust unraveled, and actions of both the characters appeared suspicious.

My first book by author Sarah Stephens kept me blindfolded until the last few chapters. Both the characters seemed unreliable as they kept changing their opinions about each other and the circumstances. I was the pendulum in the middle who was kept on the edge. Details were hidden and hints were given, the author kept me guessing the whole book.

The story told to me from Mary’s POV worked well, invoking my suspense as Mary herself was suspect in my eyes. Her moods were quicksilver, they changed with every line. Her husband too alternately tried to kill her then save her. What was happening in this book? That was my only thought.

The end was completely unexpected, my theories were dashed by the author who brought things to a close quite cleverly taking me by a surprise.

The book soothed my soul with its wickedness, the author by her choice of words. I had just started the book, when it rushed to the end. It was that addictive. One of my fun midnight reads!!
