My review

Connie was back along with her need for adventure. My second book by author Dee MacDonald, had me reading about the travels of Connie in a motor home along with acquaintances-turned-friends, Maggie and Gill.

The story had the girls going on a journey from UK to Italy, in search of Connie’s roots, with scenic stops on the way. It was lovely to see three women who were nearly 70 enjoy driving the camper and taking life as it came. The men whom they met along the way, brought in their flavors: lust, danger, love. Oh yeah! These women were hot and happening!!

I enjoyed the previous book of Connie by this author, as it had more of Connie’s thoughts and self-discovery. This book had more descriptions of sights and places. I liked the women, they were fun and unapologetic about living life fully. For me, the deep emotions and humor seemed missing from this read; I couldn’t connect much with Connie, and I missed her.

On the whole, a good cozy read which left me wishing to be like Connie, if and when I reach 70.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

My rating : 3.5 stars

Book blurb

Connie McColl is finally free to make her own decisions for the first time in decades. And when she meets glamorous Gill and downtrodden Maggie, at a rather dull flower arranging class, it seems that she’s not the only one dreaming of adventure. The three very different women all agree it’s about time they had a holiday to remember.

So they make a pact for this summer to be their best yet – and drive off into the sunset together…

As they meander their way along the beautiful beaches of France and onto the glorious delights of Italy in their luxury campervan, the new friends have plenty of fun and frolics in the sunshine. But the vacation isn’t quite what they expected…
