Many thanks to publisher Bookouture for my spot on this Blog Tour.

Sheryl Browne wrote a twisted, quite a familiar tale, which was enjoyable purely on the basis of the author’s words. I was sure she was one of the authors who had dark synaptic brain waves when she sat down to write.

Claire had a somewhat loving husband, a daughter with hemophilia minor trait, and an unknown sister who contacted her via Facebook (the mention of that social media raised my antenna, and I knew the story line). Without thorough investigation, she started trusting her until things became intolerable. Husband’s infidelity and father’s slow decline of mental facilities led her to make poor decisions. But was Claire really so naive and was the sister so perfect?

Having read many of the books by this author, I was eager to get my claws…err hands into this one. And the winding roads that the characters took made me realize I was the most sane amongst them… The book kept me flipping sides at all times. Were the characters innocent or guilty? Were they guilty of the expected or the unexpected?

The ending line twisted the plot and made me shake my head at the antics of the human psyche… I meant the author’s, not her characters’. After all, it was she who wrote about that twisted lot. Barring the child, they were all weird, their reactions went into a hyperbole at all times… At one point, I had to tell them to stop reacting and start thinking… But nah they never listened to me. I was sure they didn’t listen to the author, just went about their merry ways, doing irrational stuff.

The writing kept me on the edge as I didn’t know how the author would turn the plot… Characters were unlikable, not really sure if any of them were intelligent. None of them went to work… (how did they manage their bills?) The story was entertaining purely because the author kept me guessing if she would twist the plot where I expected her to.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley and publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

You don’t know me, but I’m your sister.’

Claire is shocked when she receives a message out of the blue from Sophie, a beautiful young woman who tells Claire that she’s their father’s secret child. Having spent years nursing her sweet little daughter Ella through a life-threatening illness whilst dealing with the emotional fall-out of a devastating marriage breakdown, Claire feels tentatively excited to meet Sophie. Perhaps she might finally have someone in the family to lean on…

As Claire welcomes her sister into her life, she’s delighted to see just how much Ella loves her new Aunt Sophie. But as the pair spend more time together, Claire begins to wonder where exactly her perfect new sister came from and what kind of person she really is. With their elderly father’s mind rapidly deteriorating, is it possible that he’s hiding something from Claire about Sophie’s sudden appearance in their lives?

When Sophie suggests a family day at the seaside, little Ella is beyond excited. But as Claire takes an important phone call from her demanding ex-husband, leaving Sophie in charge of Ella, something unthinkable happens. And as Claire rushes into the ice-cold sea towards the small, limp figure of her daughter, she realises that Sophie was watching the whole time. But why would Sophie want to hurt Claire’s precious daughter? Was trusting her new sister with Ella the biggest mistake of Claire’s life?

    1. Hahaha even your characters ran away from you and merrily danced…. Now I am so freaking excited about your next book. It has to be darker… How else can see your dark matter… (I don’t think you have Grey matter left… Your books changed them)

  1. “…they were all weird, their reactions went into a hyperbole” yikes, I’m a bit worried about this one, which I have coming up on my calendar. I like quirky but don’t always enjoy weird, had to deal with far too much of it in real life 😉

    1. Hehehe that’s only me who thought they were all crazy… Others have loved loved loved it.
Psst I think you would love to smack all of them…
