Let me tell you one exciting thing about Rona Halsall. She puts her characters through a wringer, and those poor dears don’t even know what has hit them… 😂 The woman is wicked, I tell ya… I should know. I have read all her books. Go me!!
The moment I started reading her book, my brain exclaimed one line, filling my body with adrenaline – boy, are we gonna have a massive workout today!! And that’s what happened. The story started so innocently…
Eva came to know after two decades that she had a sister who apparently had committed suicide. But one call to her step-mom changed that equation. Nancy was alive and hurt, and the hospital needed someone to care for her. Eva volunteered.
That started the ball rolling. From the moment the two sisters met, there was an underlying hint of something else below the surface. I loved how the author made me search for the clues.
The first half was atmospheric with a hint of underlying danger. It ended with an explosive line, and the next section was absolutely a roller coaster ride!!
I couldn’t believe the number of twists and lies the author had weaved in it. I loved it. With the sleight of hand and a line here and there, there was misdirection and blind alleys. And secrets… Yes those delicious secrets the author has drummed up…. They were simply brilliant!!
What could I say… I binge on secrets and thrills and they get me going… I was not well today, and this book made me zoom on like mad… Wowza!!
Could you make out I am recommending this book? Or was I being too subtle?
