I am a book cover junkie. I generally buy books if the cover is attractive. Many times the book didn’t live up to the beauty of the cover. Then the reverse would also have to be true. Here it is…
I hated this cover, looked like a cheap romance. But it was so NOT. I loved the book. The worldbuilding, the characters, the plotlines, each one of them was endearing and revoked my love for urban fantasy. And ILONA ANDREWS is the best there is in this genre.
MC Nevada, with a hidden power of a truth-seeker, was forced to track down Andrew Pierce. Then there was Connor Mad Rogan who too wanted Andrew for a different purpose. Mad Rogan and Nevada crash, and the story burned with the power of their attraction. But don’t worry. It was very subtle. The authors concentrated more on the story and plotline.
The characters were etched with different colors, each brought a different zing. With a hint, just a hint, of a triangle, I think the villain wanted it more than Nevada did, it was super-fun. Also, this was the first when I heard the villain being called a teenager in a man’s body.
The writing was peppy; the action scenes captured my thriller-y heart. With mystery and suspense, along with good family ties, the book went on to become everything the authors were famous for. At 99p, this book was a complete steal.
Being a long time fan of author Ilona Andrews, I went ahead and got the audiobook too. Though not a big fan of the narrator, I liked that she had different voices and intonation for all the characters and made the story easy to follow. Also, this was the first time, I kept the speed of the book at 1.7, and it was still easy to follow.
