Oh gawd!! I had been recommended this book as I wanted something light after my intense thrillers. But nobody told me that the book would be so flimsy.
Let me explain. Girl saw boy and was in lust, then fell in love, became his roommate, pretended to date him to ward off her boss’s interest in him. Boy had a revolving door for women, and most times, this girl consoled the others who pined for the boy even months after their break-up.
They fake dated till it all became real. Then love became hate.
My first book by this author, the story seemed humorous, but slightly creepy too. The girl gave the pining lover the boy’s pillow to remember him by. Initially, there was a freshness between both of them. I could feel the tingles of like and attraction, though only girl was in love right from the beginning.
I was all set for a romping ride with the friends to lovers theme, but midway down the story, the book shifted to his POV, and there was only miscommunication. I wanted whop their heads for being idiots. Most times the girl was whiny and had no logical reason to get angry. Gawd I wanted to bash my kindle on her. My friend DJ would have kicked her ass.
The book did aggravate me and not in my nice way. I needed a book which calmed me down and made me smile. I got one which evoked far more emotions than my crime thrillers did. And NOT IN A GOOD WAY.
No depth to the story or major subplots, the characters went downhill in their reactions, I had to skim read the rest as I was too angry.

Flirting with me when no one else was around? Pinning me down and kissing me like that? Okay, how exactly is taking off my bra part of the ruse, Aiden?!
I’d ask him about it if I could, but well…things got ugly and we’re not best friends anymore.
In fact, we’re the exact opposite.
Now, I have to play nice even though I want to crush his heart in the palm of my hand.
Pretending not to love Aiden was the easy part.
Pretending not to hate him?
Well…I might need a little more practice

Viper had sex… 😂 😂 So I may just agree. I switched to Erin Johnson book 2, to cool down, was so enraged in the morning with that book

Sounds like the author threw every tired trope into this one. You are correct, I would have gone all kickass on her!
I kept imagining what you would have done. hahaha that was the only way it could be enjoyable for me. I quit romance, unless you recommend me one.
