Many thanks to Noelle Holten and publisher Bookouture for my spot on this Blog Tour.
Kill me, kill me now… OK don’t kill me. The book will do it for you. It raised my suspense to such levels that the adrenaline caused my heart to race, the pitch was high, and the beats were loud. That was the magic of Samantha Hayes’ writing.
Libby and Sean went for their date night, with Sasha as their babysitter looking after daughter Alice. A misunderstanding, a fight or two, the couple returned back to find Sasha missing. A few weeks later, Libby was arrested on the suspicion of Sasha’s murder. With such a blurb, what was I to do? I dove into the story and played a game.
Have you ever played Blind Man’s Buff? I did, the entire afternoon, with the author’s characters while reading this story. Each character, via their conversation, would tap me from behind, and once I moved in that direction, someone else would tap me from the opposite direction and I was forced to follow that. How would I know the truth if every chapter gave me a different hint? My mind was scattered.
But I couldn’t stop reading. I felt surged by the plot line, swirling in the mini whirlpools that this author had created in the book. What was Sam Hayes doing to me? The story was told to me from Libby’s POV, who was the most unreliable in the history of characters.
I did not know what to believe and which direction to look at in practically the entire book. It felt I was moving with the force of the current which was the entire prose. The confusion and my curiosity nearly overwhelmed me till the end revealed it all.
Sam Hayes has done it again. Killed it… With this book. And me too. I rose again to write this review.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Samantha Hayes grew up in Warwickshire, left school at sixteen, avoided university and took jobs ranging from private detective to barmaid to fruit picker and factory worker. She lived on a kibbutz, and spent time living in Australia and the USA, before finally becoming a crime-writer.
Her writing career began when she won a short story competition in 2003. Her novels are family-based psychological thrillers, with the emphasis being on ‘real life fiction’. She focuses on current issues and sets out to make her readers ask, ‘What if this happened to me or my family?’

Returning early from a disastrous date night with my husband, I know something is wrong the moment the wheels crunch the gravel drive of our home. Inside, the TV is on and a half-eaten meal waits on the table. My heart stops when I find our little girl is alone in the house and our babysitter, Sasha, is missing…
Days later, when I’m arrested for Sasha’s murder and torn away from my perfect little family, I’ll wish I had told someone about the threatening note I received that morning.
I’ll hate myself for not finding out who the gift hidden inside my husband’s wardrobe was for.
I’ll scream from the rooftops that I’m innocent – but no one will listen.
I will realise I was completely wrong about everything that happened that night…
But will you believe me?

Love this review! Glad you rose again to write it 😉 Just finished reading this one this morning and I agree with you. I really couldn’t tell where it was going or what happened to Sasha. Got frustrated by Libby a couple of times. Entertaining read for sure though.
Exactly… I wanted to shake her and say – tell me the truth. I am going crazy 🤪
Hehehe it made me so reactive
Haha, I so know the feeling. In my head I was screaming, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, WOMAN? In the end, it kinda made sense though
True that
This sounds really good!
This was so much fun!! Thank you so much ❤️
After reading your stirring review I raced to NetGalley to request this – but I just missed it by 2 days. Fudge! I am worried about your heart with all these exciting thrillers – I don’t want you to stroke out on me – maybe you need to briefly switch to comedic cozies and let the poor thing rest. 😉
I am just doing that reading a Faith Martin cozy… Hehehe my thrillers are causing too much if a reaction on me 💃💃😂😂
Thank goodness! 😉 I want you to take good care of yourself, precious girl. I need you to live a long, long time to keep me company!
I hope I get to meet you some day. Yp books together you and me life long. ❤️😘
Nope…not going to kill you, although this book apperently almost did that: glad you were able to get up though to write this review! 😊 And it certainly was another “killer” review! (pun intended😘) 😊
The author killed me pun intended 😂😂😂😂it was a crazy book pulled me in various directions. Reading a cozy now to soothe my brain. Unfortunately, brain is asking – why is nothing happening in the book? It is slow paced… 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Lol…well…sometimes slow paced can be good! 😂😂 But yeah, after such an intense book, I can definitely understand your brain lol 😂😂
Hahaha 😂 😂 😂 do I have a brain left?
Lol…yes, yes do….And a very good one at that 😘
Wonderful review Shalini. This is the second review I have read of this book today and was totally hooked. You speak highly of the suspense and twists and five stars, how can I resist. Not an author I have read before but I recognize many of the titles on Amazon from reviews so I am taking the plunge and adding this one.
This was a fun book totally unexpected. The epilogue will shock you
