The cover intrigued me, the genre said fantasy, so I had to try this book from the new author, Anna McKerrow.
The story did capture me initially, the prologue laid the myth of the witches of the land and their curse on the village. That intrigued me. Then the book introduced me to Faye who ran her shop, cast a spell, and lo and behold, the faerie king Finn arrived into her life along with Rav. She was attracted to both! Whom did the spell work on, then?!! The triangle was not needed.
Hot and bothered became Faye and Finn, they did manage to get in a lot of such steamy scenes, and then came the fantasy which had me losing my interest. I didn’t like the characters much, they didn’t seem to go beyond the sex scenes to emotions and love, no layers of development in their characters.
The plot of the book became too hotch-potch for me to really enjoy it, I did like that Faye soon came into her powers. But the rest did not make me go wide-eyed with love. Sighhh.
P. S. The sex scenes were plenty erotic
I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
My rating : 2 stars
Faye Morgan – beautiful, independent and lonely – runs her family’s small shop of magical curiosities like her mother and grandmother before her. She longs for an escape, unaware of the dark power that flows through her veins…
When Faye casts a spell into the sea one cold morning, her call brings her to the attention of the wild and impulsive faerie king Finn Beatha. Finn pulls Faye into an intoxicating new world, both magical and treacherous… and as bewitching as Finn himself, who seems to command every part of her when he’s near.
As Faye’s passion for Finn grows, so does her fear that she might be there for some darker reason… and that she could be trapped in Faerie forever. Is there something in Faye’s past connecting her to this place, to Finn? And dare she find out more when every moment draws her further away from her old world?

Crap Girl, this one is on my read list, now I don’t know if I wanna take the time to read it, or just skip it? Damn it!! ☺ Also, did you read my NaNo post?
No it got missed. Just read it..
Read this book. It was a bit slow for me. You might like it
I’ll take that advise and give it a go. Let you know what I think. ☺
You’re so right about this being an intriguing cover! Sorry the story wasn’t as compelling for you.
Ha! Some books are not for everyone… Hot sexy scenes are great… Well… Yeah!!
Shame! It’s a beautiful cover!
I loved the cover. The book was nice… Just not for me💕
Nice review and Happy Diwali
Thank you sir. How are you?
Welcome mam, I am fine, how is your diwali
All good sir
Hope for continuous strong friendship in future
Nice, honest Review! It sounds so interesting but tell you the truth I would have never imagined it to have erotica sex scenes in it. Lovely! 😊
Well… It had the steamy scenes… It was an okay read, I kept getting distracted…
I was interested until I found out it had a love triangle. They’re the worst trope to ever exist! 😅
I don’t like the triangle or the love square. It detracts from the story…. Sheesh!!!
Your rating makes me get the gist of the post. Since there’s trust, I look at your 4and 5 for my wish list.
Thank you 🙏
Always most welcome Shalini
Nice, honest review Shalini. You know as soon as you said steamy and erotic I was out without all the other issues even being considered. Too bad it didn’t work. It is frustrating when they start out so well, then just die out.
Well, I learnt something… Too bad no mate to practice on 😜😜
You never know what the future will bring. 😉😜
Great review Shalini. The cover is interesting. The erotic, steamy scenes not so much 😀
For me too… I like steamy scenes but I like magic and spells more
I have to say I agree with you on this one too. It didn’t take long before I just simply became really bored with it as nothing seemed new or intriguing.
I read your review. We had similar thoughts. I wasn’t very connected to the main character
No, me either, seemed more an excuse for the erotic side of he book than anything really compelling fantasy wise.
True that. Learnt a lot but no mate to practice on 😉😉😂😂
I can’t help but think boy you can learn anything reading a book…. LOL
Hahaha you can!!
I don’t know why I’m laughing though, I remember reading 50 Shades and thinking a what?? never heard of that before…
Hahaha that shocked me too 😂😂
I doubt that we are alone either. LOL
