Many thanks to Sarah and BOTBS Publicity for my spot on this Blog Tour.
A different thriller which has me gasping like a fish out of the water. There were twists and unexpected happenings that my eyes couldn’t believe.
Ella was the most uncovered undercover private investigator who was employed by her friend Val to reveal the secrets of plastic surgeon Marcus and lawyer Harry and their time spent in the exclusive Buxham Club.
On the other hand, journalist Konrad too was investigating the unhealthy appetites of the patrons of this Club. Things happened, a severed thumb and a missing barrister were the clues left behind.
My first book by author AB Morgan, oh my, I was left speechless. Ella’s life took some acute turns when her hypomania came to the forefront. Suffering from Bipolar Disorder, she was one interesting character. She was larger than life (pun unintended) and her willingness to do anything, bordering on naivety, had me wanting to warn her multitude of times. The risks she undertook had to be read to be believed.
In the latter half of the book, her brain neurons fired up and zinged. I wondered how the author crafted such a wicked plot and etched a character like Ella to fit into it. The part which my thriller-y brain most liked was how Ella thought up the disposal route. (Psst…that’s a clue.) You have to read the book to solve my clue now.
The story was fast paced with short, crisp chapters. Some of the subplots were quite convoluted, I had to reread them to get the imagery of the words. Overall, the writing pulled me into Ella’s world and pitched me into the roiling waters of her brain, directly at the deep end. A fun read!!
I received a free ARC from Sarah and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
Alison Morgan lives in Bedfordshire where she was born and brought up. She worked in the county for nearly thirty years for the NHS mostly at the front line of mental health services.
Alison retired earlier than anticipated because of an unexpected health challenge which redirected her to write in order to save her own sanity. Her crime thrillers pull on many years of experience within psychiatry.
Other than that: family, friends, rugby, live music, real cider, lively conversation, laughter and more recently motorbikes (mid-life crisis).
Ella Fitzwilliam’s world is about to spiral out of control.
She’s not cut out to be a private investigator. With little or no aptitude for the job, she’s been sent undercover to expose the hidden lives of two men who meet nearly every week at Buxham’s – a private members’ club where portions are large and secrets are held in strictest confidence.
One of those men is Harry Drysdale, a defence barrister. The other is Marcus Carver, an eminent surgeon with a tarnished past and much to lose.
Ella knows he has unhealthy appetites, she’s sure he’s feeding his perverted habits and putting his female patients at risk but she has to prove it.
When Harry Drysdale goes missing, Konrad Neale TV journalist tries to reveal the truth behind the lies, but some of the secrets start to reveal themselves… and they are big.
