Many thanks to Bloodhound Books for my spot on this Book Blast.
I believe that author Alex Sinclair writes the best opening scenes. They are memorable, and they can bring fear and horror to the forefront telling me that I am in for a rocking ride. This book had one too.
Someone was about to kill Katherine and it was her husband Corey. Kat would do anything to save herself and her daughter Ava. The story in the next few chapters told me what had happened prior in the days leading to that scene. The honeymoon was great, and the days following it were filed with misunderstandings and fights. Soon fear slammed into Kat and she had no one to turn to except best friend Annette.
Having read a few books by this author, I knew what I was in for. Short snappy chapters, each spiraling the tension and fear a notch higher. Kay’s emotions, confusion and helplessness ricochetted into me. I couldn’t help turning the pages faster to know how she would escape this quicksand into which she seemed to be sinking deeper.
My niggles emerged, I was told the final reveal right after the first few chapters, and I could feel my interest moving down. Nevertheless, I still needed to know the outcome and how Kat would save herself.
The ending was unexpected and the epilogue was a shocker. Overall, it was a smooth, fun read, exactly what I expected from an Alex Sinclair novel. My appetizer before dinner.
I received a free ARC from the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
