My Review
My second foray into author Wendy Walker’s literary work, and I was pleasantly surprised how she made me forget time. The smoothness in the prose, the strong, intelligent characters, well nuanced plot made this one of my fastest reads.
Molly Clarke left home one day never to return, leaving a note, Don’t Look For Me. Nic, her daughter, went in search for her as she needed to hear the truth from her mom. Did Molly leave home as she was tired of not being loved by her family? Or was there something more at play?
This was a fun book where the author twisted her characters, forcing them to show some cool, wicked moves. Red herrings, false starts, some sleight of the hand made the story come alive where the suspense commanded the thrill. For me, reading about a mother’s love along with intense grief and guilt made me love Molly Clarke more. I could see why she would want to run away.
The characters were distinct, some were creepy. Remember the doll in any horror movie, a character in the book reminded me of it, and it added to the eerie, almost disengaged atmosphere, in different sections. The plot lines seemed familiar, yet the story kept me quite engrossed.
A few shockers along with a need to know the truth made this fast paced. There was a balance between darkness and light in all the characters, and I would say quite a clever way to make these characters memorable.
Overall, a thrilling read.

Book Blurb
One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life.
She doesn’t want to be found.
Or at least, that’s the story.
The car abandoned miles from home.
The note found at a nearby hotel.
The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together.
They called it a “walk away.”
It happens all the time.
Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over.
But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?

Seems, there are many twists in this story. A missed person produces a lot of fun. A great pulling review, Shalini. Will put this book on my TBR, it sounds very interesting and page turning too. Thank you! Michael
