Another Jessica Redland, and another story filled with emotions. This had quite a few challenges for the main character Elise who really had to jump through the hoops for her HEA.

Elise had it all, family and friends. Then came reality. She discovered the truth about her husband, then had to deal with her broken dreams, a short lived affair, and a crush, and long stand-standing friendships. A secret was also on the way.

Ooh this book gripped me as much as a thriller would. I was in awe of Jessica’s writing as she not only filled the book with emotions, she made her character grow a spine down the pages. Every chapter had Elise dealing with a new event in her life.

New friendships with Clare and Stevie developed, and I loved how the other characters too returned to be a support to Elise. For me the book worked as a standalone as the author provided enough backstory to anchor the characters.

Every book of this author is a treat to read. They not only soothe my soul, but they are fun and entertaining. This story too pulled at my heartstrings, and I was completely immersed in Elise’s life. Strength and friendship was the backdrop of the book, and that made this a wonderful read.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

It was supposed to be the perfect fairy-tale. Elise married her childhood sweetheart, Gary, straight out of college, and they’ve been happy together for over twelve years. Elise is now desperate to start a family, but Gary doesn’t seem to share her enthusiasm anymore. Arriving home early from a party, she discovers why: Gary’s been keeping a secret from her. A very big secret.

While her own marriage appears to be falling apart, being a supportive bridesmaid for her best friend, Sarah, isn’t easy. Especially not when Clare, her nemesis from day one, is one of the other bridesmaids. If she’s going to get through it, she needs to put her own feelings aside, find herself again, and get over Gary. Fast.

Could recently-divorced Daniel be the tonic Elise needs, or is he full of secrets and lies too? Is his hostile, but strangely attractive brother, Michael, the genuine article instead? And why do the good guys like Stevie turn her down?

But then Elise discovers she has a secret of her own and getting over Gary suddenly becomes the least of her worries…

  1. Aw, Shalini, I LOVE this review! Gripped by it as much as a thriller? Wow! That’s such a wonderful thing to read. I am so excited to hear what you think of the final book in the series next month, which is my absolute favourite of them all.
So glad you enjoyed Elise’s story and her transition into her new life.
Thank you so very, very much.
    Jessica xx

    1. She is wonderful Linda, as an author and most importantly as a person. Very generous and very understanding. We have had a small discussion about star ratings, and I wondered how she would take my POV, but honestly. I was shocked. She could beyond, understand more and more importantly accepted a different viewpoint. Not many authors would. More than her books, I respect her as a person.
I remember another post where she was unsure about continuing to write and all of us rushed in to encourage her, she got huge support and now she is backed by a good publisher

  2. Thank you so much, Linda. I hope you do decide to take a trip to Whitsborough Bay and see whether it’s your cup of tea 🙂
Shalini – you’ve brought a tear to my eye. How lovely! It may be down to my background in HR but I’m all about constructive feedback. I love to take points on board and learn from them and I hugely respect the views of such prolific readers as yourself. The support from the book blogging community is so valuable and so highly appreciated. Can’t thank you and others such as Empress DJ and Nina enough for all the support xx
