One of the most beautiful books that I have read in this lifetime. Author Jessica Redland is truly the queen of hearts. She knew how to dip each word in the ink of emotions and wrench my heart into a state that I could not help but sob. The feelings were like a tempest of waves that couldn’t be controlled.
I tried to lock myself in a block of rage. But it disappeared with the first page.
I tried to think of my thrillers and gore. But my heart wanted to feel some more.
I tried to walk and escape its charms. But all it did was open its arms.
I tried to run so far away. But the magic of words made me dance and sway.
I tried to pretend I didn’t care. But every time down came a single tear.
Such was the power of author Jessica Redland’s writing that I couldn’t help but fall in love over and over again. Every word, every line, every chapter laid seige on my heart until I was nothing but a being of emotions. I tried to control my feelings, but the book set me free to express them.
Samantha was kindness personified. She had been hurt by all she loved, including her mother and cousin. Only her father fought in her corner. She lost her precious grandfather a year ago, which was a mighty blow. And she had to watch the man she loved marry her cousin. Her heart shattered, yet she didn’t let go of her family. They let go of her. Destiny directed her path to an elderly grumpy man Thomas. And both found pure joy and healed. Then something dire happened…
The story unfolded so brilliantly that at times my heart shattered into a million pieces where each piece was laden with so many emotions that I didn’t know where one began and the other ended. A rich tapestry of a story, it bound Sam to the other characters with silken threads giving them a choice to be stronger or set free. The author knew how to wrap those same bindings around me, giving me inner joy and the most blessed peace.
The earth shifted its axis, so it felt.
The waves rushed sky high, so it felt.
The winds threatened to destroy, so it felt.
There I was, right in the middle, feeling every single one of them.
Nuances, big and small, all etched their marks on me.
My heart was ravaged like the rocks of the cliff in a storm, yet I felt oh so powerful, standing strong, feeling the love in every line.
I loved the book, and it loved me back. So much more.

The author has a bestseller orange tag on all her books, and now I know why. Each book she writes becomes my new favorite. This one broke my heart, then joined it back with love.
