Many thanks to publisher Bookouture for my spot on this Blog Tour.
A high octane book, author Ed James gave his main character Max Carter a shot of adrenaline before writing his second investigative thriller of a missing week’s old baby.
The Barlett’s had everything, yet all was not as it appeared on the surface. In the midst of their family politics, due to a few minutes of inattention by the nanny, baby KY was taken from his cot. The maze of a plot started right then…
My second book by the author, I was sucked into multifaceted plot which had many suspects who could have masterminded such a plot, yet I knew who had taken him, not the why.
A couple of subplots had the continuum from book 1, but this was a complete story with many conspiracies. I never knew who was telling me the truth. The twists occurred when I expected them, the author sure kept me on my toes.
Some scenes were unbelievable, but that was what I wanted, to forget realities of my world with a thriller of a book. Quite fun a read with an ending twist, the book kept me engrossed over a lazy Sunday.
I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

A baby missing. A family in pieces. A shocking secret that can’t be told.
Landon and Jennifer Bartlett have everything¾money, influence and a picture-perfect family. But it means nothing when their lives are torn apart the day someone breaks into their plush mansion and takes their newborn child right from his cot.
FBI Agent Max Carter investigates child abduction cases. He has a reputation for working all hours to find every missing child on his watch¾after all, he was once one himself. When he visits the Bartletts’ sprawling home in an exclusive estate in the suburbs of Seattle, he’s immediately suspicious of Landon Bartlett and his brother Sam.
As Carter delves deeper into the lives of the brothers, he finds a web of dubious business deals and lies that could cost the Bartletts their entire family fortune. And it’s clear they will do anything to keep their secrets¾but would they withhold vital information that could lead him to baby Ky’s kidnapper?
As Carter begins a cat-and-mouse game with the kidnapper, he receives some startling news from home, which stops him in his tracks. And when a young woman is spotted boarding a bus out of town with a baby fitting Ky’s description, he must decide whether to risk everything to find the missing child or save his own family.

Sounds like another winner. I wanted to read this one and still hope to, but I was declined. Great review Shalini. Glad this took you away for a few hours.
Thank you so much ❤️ it was fun with many villains

Thank you so much ❤️ this week is going to be tough on me. I need more books to escape into
It’s pretty interesting that this has subplots from the first book! It’s the first I’m seeing these psychological thrillers do that. Great review! 😀
Thank you so much. Police procedural all tend to have continuing subplots nowadays
I checked and I’ve never read Ed James – what is wrong with me?
You need to get to his books fast. They are fun, but this one had a lot of bad guys. I would have been happy with one or two
