This book was quite striking, a family drama which soon turned into a thriller.

Josh’s partner Grace died suddenly, and he became the sole caretaker of her 7 year old son Logan. He needed the child’s birth certificate to apply for guardianship. That started the ball rolling as there was no document for Logan other than his vaccination certificate. Josh’s need to get to the answers raised the pitch of the book so much that I was rolling in excitement too.

My first book by Hannah Mary McKinnon, this was a great domestic suspense with a few of over the top reactions by Josh. I didn’t mind that. Josh was a great father, his love for Logan kept the book alive. It seeped in his every action. There may have been times when he slipped up but his heart was always in the right place.

I like thrillers and I don’t mind if a story became mysterious and thrilling. In fact, I look forward to that. The author did not disappoint. The book took some twists and turns, and soon Josh’s questions led to secrets and reveals and a truth so horrifying that I could only stare at it with widened eyes. Oh my!!

Hannah’s characters touched my heart especially his sister and his best friend. They stood by him through thick and thin. Few scenes were a bit far-fetched, but the entire book gripped me so much that this book became my favorite read.

Twists and turns, actions and reactions, lies and truth were weaved beautifully by author Hannah McKinnon, but this story was actually about love. A father’s love for his son. Period.
