My Review
Thrilling and downright intriguing was this case where Anna confessed to killing Zoe Spanos. Author Kit Frick had weaved convoluted statements from all that made me wonder if the Zoe lookalike had some weird connection with the dead girl.
Anna took up a new job as the nanny in Hamptons. She met a few people who confused her for Zoe as both had similar features. Meeting the next door boy was the highlight as Zoe was his fiancée. Interspersed in this rigmarole, there were a few podcasts by Martina along Anna’s patchy memories. But Anna had never been to the Hamptons ever before. She didn’t know Zoe. Did she?
Oh my!! The beginning rushed by me as I kept tapping furiously to know who, what, why and the major one – How was it possible? The story was so intriguing and the writing kept me moving along in those lines, without allowing me the time to take it all in.
I was quite obsessed while reading this book as I couldn’t seem to put it down. I am used to adult thrillers so reading the young adult one was a delicious change. The podcasts were cleverly used by the author to give me another angle to the story. There really was so much to love in the book.
But at the core of it, was the murder mystery and Anna’s confession. Both were like quicksand demanding their reasons. My mind grew restless until I reached the end.
Twisty plotline, patchy memories, a confession by a lookalike, and made false leads made this a fun afternoon read.

What happened to Zoe won’t stay buried…
When Anna Cicconi arrives to the small Hamptons village of Herron Mills for a summer nanny gig, she has high hopes for a fresh start. What she finds instead is a community on edge after the disappearance of Zoe Spanos, a local girl who has been missing since New Year’s Eve. Anna bears an eerie resemblance to Zoe, and her mere presence in town stirs up still-raw feelings about the unsolved case. As Anna delves deeper into the mystery, stepping further and further into Zoe’s life, she becomes increasingly convinced that she and Zoe are connected–and that she knows what happened to her.
Two months later, Zoe’s body is found in a nearby lake, and Anna is charged with manslaughter. But Anna’s confession is riddled with holes, and Martina Green, teen host of the Missing Zoe podcast, isn’t satisfied. Did Anna really kill Zoe? And if not, can Martina’s podcast uncover the truth?
