This review is dedicated to author E. Denise Billups. Not because it is her book, well, partly so. But because she is a terrific human being, kind and gracious.

Many times in the blogging world, I have met authors who haven’t liked my reviews and have called me names or asked me to delete my review. Then came a breath of fresh air called E. Denise Billups who not only understood what I said but appreciated my honesty.

This is something all of us can learn. Ratings don’t make or break us. It is the strength of our character which does. And at the end of the day, that is all each of us are.

Hats off to this kind human being!! DENISE, your humanity will always shine bright in the corner of my heart like a beacon guiding me when I become unkind.

There is only one question this book required an answer to – what happened that night at a party in the house at 1414 Kalorama Road? The entire story revolved around the lost memory. 2 years ago, Allie was at the party where she was drugged; in that state, she saw something and promptly forgot the next morning. An editor now, she began to get mails asking her to remember that night. And strange things started happening around her which led her to investigate.

My first book by author E. Denise Billups, I was pleasantly surprised at the elements she has introduced in this book. Thriller, romance, hints of paranormal all caught my interests. They were weaved pretty well to make it a intriguing tale. I love a book which can show a hint of something more guiding us. They give me the tingles. Denise’s writing was smooth like a well blended whiskey (I think my friends Jay and Nicole would know more about the alcohol metaphors)

Then came my niggles, for a thriller, the tension was not maintained across the scenes. I found myself distracted many a time. The book took me 4 days to read. There were parts which felt rushed. I wanted Allie a bit more proactive. I wanted to like her more.

Overall, a fun read…

I downloaded a digital copy from Kindle Unlimited, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

Do you like paranormal in your thrillers? Ever seen Ghosts or felt them?

There’s something Allie can’t remember; hidden memories that refuse to surface. Until one day, when something brings back images of a forgotten night.

A year after graduating from Emsworth University, a mysterious email appears, asking Allie a single question. Someone wants her to remember, and they are getting closer. As forgotten memories gradually surface, Allie has to come to terms with her dark past, and a revelation she could have never imagined.

But what really happened at 1414 Kalorama Road?

  1. Another great review, Shalini! It’s so nice to see that there really are great people out there who aren’t all about their egos. Denise sounds absolutely wonderful! Every time you have to deal with an A-hole, just remember the kind people and you can get past the jerks and the users. 🙂 I hope this week is better than your last, my dear, and if you ever need to vent, I’m just an email away. XXX OOO 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Leslie. I am so thankful for friends like you. You make my world brighter and less lonely. It took me years to get friends like you. I value your continued support and friendship all the time. You are in my heart ♥

  2. I’m sad that this wasn’t more thrilling for you. I do like paranormal in my thrillers sometimes, if it is written well, but this sounds like the thrill was missing. 😦

  3. Great review Shalini. I always enjoy your honest reviews and am so glad that Denise was so open and kind to you. Even though there were a few niggles, this one sounds like a book I would enjoy. I remember seeing it last year and added it to my TBR, but now with KU, it might be more doable.

Awesome to see you here. Let's chat.
