MY REVIEW
Holy smokes!! This was bloody brilliant… Lila was one cool customer who didn’t swerve or sweat under pressure even when the cop Ginny drove the verbal bullets into her about her husband Aaron’s disappearance.
What a debut!! It rocked me to my core and kept the juices of suspense flowing through my body as I listened to the tale. I had both audio and digital version of the book. Every few chapters had a twist which peeled a layer off the character.
The whole book was Lila’s gamble, and there were moments when I felt the woman who tried to end her marriage in a different way would soon remain in the cop’s sight. Will she/won’t she?
I loved feeling those emotions of uncertainty as I kept swaying between what I knew and what the author Darby Kane wanted me to search for.
The ending was great as I saw the two strong women trying to find a balance in their knowledge. The narrator was simply awesome, clear in her expressions. I listened to the audio at 1.4x speed and I could just envision the interrogation scenes.
Bloody brilliant!! What are you waiting for? Get the book!! I recommend.

BOOK BLURB
Lila Ridgefield lives in an idyllic college town, but not everything is what it seems. Lila isn’t what she seems. A student vanished months ago. Now, Lila’s husband, Aaron, is also missing. At first these cases are treated as horrible coincidences until it’s discovered the student is really the third of three unexplained disappearances over the last few years. The police are desperate to find the connection, if there even is one. Little do they know they might be stumbling over only part of the truth….
With the small town in an uproar, everyone is worried about the whereabouts of their beloved high school teacher. Everyone except Lila, his wife. She’s definitely confused about her missing husband but only because she was the last person to see his body, and now it’s gone.

Fantastic review, Shalini💜 I just got the audiobook from the library.
Oh this one sounds so thrilling! Excellent review, Shalini.
I’m guilty of stereotyping. Based on the title, I assumed the victim was going to be the wife. It seems it is a much deeper mystery than that.
great review–and you are listening at 1.4x speed?
Yes. With some narrators it is at 1.2x but at 1x I tend to fall asleep. What about you?
Wow..a glowing recommendation 👍 Awesome
