Happy Publication Day!!
Move over all the cookery shows – Restaurant Weeks are here and Poppy is the chef, a pastry chef and this is her moment to shine!!
Years ago, she had left the culinary school and now she was called by teenage love Tim to participate in the week long show. And as the psychic in the previous book had predicted – deadbodies follow Poppy and a judge was found slumped in the chair, dead!! Poppy was asked to investigate along with her aunt Ginny and friend Sawyer.
My third book by Libby Klein, I was on a roll. This book was done in pure Masterchef style with mystery baskets and different ingredients each day along with the rivalry and politics and some sabotaging. Triple the fun… I am not a foodie, but I definitely love watching…now reading…about the books written with the cooking show flair…
Libby’s trademark style of writing was well evident with humor provided by Aunt Ginny and her friends and cat Figaro, and tinge of romance provided by Tim and Gia… Both liked Poppy. And why not, Poppy was likable, she was gutsy and bold and overall nice. And I loved the support she garnered, the studio audience were all there only for her, basically aunt Ginny and her friends. And yes… There was betting too. Mostly in her favor
And you bet, there were my niggles too, murder occurred at 36% and Poppy’s investigation started much later. I was pretty much done with the romance triangle. It was no longer cute. Poppy should select one and get on.
Overall, this book kept me great company during my flu. A good diversion and an enjoyable read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Kensington Books, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

Do you love cozy mysteries? Which is your favorite: author and book?
Libby Klein graduated Lower Cape May Regional High School in the ’80s. Her classes revolved mostly around the culinary sciences and theater, with the occasional nap in Chemistry. She has worked as a stay at home mom, climbing the ranks to the coveted position of Grandma. She writes culinary cozy mysteries from her Northern Virginia office while trying to keep her cat Figaro off her keyboard. Most of her hobbies revolve around eating, and travel, and eating while traveling.
Poppy McAllister is happy about opening a Jersey Shore B&B—but working in a professional kitchen has always been her real dream. Now it’s coming true, at least briefly, as she teams up with her former fiancée, Tim—and his condescending partner, Gigi—during the high-profile Restaurant Week challenge.
Things get heated quickly—especially when some ingredients get switched and Tim’s accused of sabotage. Relatively harmless pranks soon escalate into real hazards, including an exploding deep fryer. And now one of the judges has died after taking a bite of Poppy’s cannoli—making her the chef suspect . . .

Sounds interesting. great review, Shalini!
Thank you Yesha 💖
Books/Shows with food make me weak! And I’m pretty sure a nice mystery would make it an even more great read. Awesome review as always, Shalini! And I hope you feel better now 🙂
It took me time, I am in the process of kicking that bug’s ass… 😂 😂
Lovely review, Shalini! I have some sort of flu or virus now and need a comforting book. I’m glad to hear this one brought you such comfort with just a few niggles. I hope you are feeling much better! ♥️
Omg… You have the virus? I had for nearly 1.5 months… Please get well soon
Warm fluids, ginger tea, pepper and honey,
Thank you! I hope I don’t have it that long. Ugh. So miserable. Dosing up on every home remedy I have. ♥️

I’m looking forward to this one. I’m sorry the mystery takes a backseat, but I’ll hang in there to see how it develops.
I am sure you will enjoy it… Maybe I was just jealous 😂😂
What I wouldn’t do for a hot guy who could cook, shoot I’d settle for mediocre looking guy who could cook! LOL! Beggars can’t be choosers!😉
Hahaha me too.. I have started wearing granny panties… 😂 😂

This sounds like a lot of fun! Hope you’ve recovered from the flu!
Getting there…thank you so much ❤️
I love the premise of this one!!! Wish they could have gotten that murder over with sooner though 😂
Well, she had 2 men wanting to be with her, so I suppose now I can see that ❤️😂
I love your review and your niggles! This one sounds like it could be really good! I’m going to go read your other reviews too!
It was fun.. I have been reading the entire series.. 😂 That’s a first. Usually I start as the 8th or the 24th
Ah… I can’t read your review too closely. Lol. I’m about a quarter into it myself! I’d forgotten I had it on Net Galley. My original plan was to have it reviewed by publication day too! Soon!!
Ooooh Close your eyes and read the review. You would like love the book!!
Hahha. It is a fun series.
Agreed… I love Gia😍
Me toooo!!!! Not liking Tim too much in this first quarter of the book. 😂
Me too… What’s with him liking the other babe…. Gia is so fine!!
Exactly! Lol
Nice review Shalini. I have read the first one and need to keep going. I find sometimes when there is a great MC, the mystery sometimes takes a back seat and don’t get me started on love triangles……
I hate those love triangles… It puts me off totally
