Many thanks to Wendy, Gina, Cheryl and Partners in Crime Virtual Book Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.
A different read, for sure. A collection of 7 stories all narrated from the tomb with each one more horrifying than the next.
It is often difficult for me to review the book as all stories had their voices wanting to be heard, wanting me to understand how they got to be in that situation. Some of the voices were strong like the supposedly befuddled grandmother who overturned the game her granddaughters played while some just narrated the story in simple words giving only a hint of what they were hiding.
The stories written by Fran Lewis showed me the darker side of the human psyche and the aftermath of torture, lies, and suffering at the hands of others. Therein were my niggles, the stories were not explored to its depths to show twisted minds. They coursed the superficial path which left me longing for more.
I was most intrigued by the story of the grandmother and the way she played her daughters. At 50 odd pages, the stories provided food for thought.
I received a free ARC from Cheryl and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
Driving down a rocky road I saw the overgrown grass, weeds, and poison ivy overtaking the outer perimeter of the bushes. The smell of mildew permeated the air, along with the stench of animals killed by cars coming up from the ground along
this dirt road. I could see the sadness on the faces in the cars behind me; I could feel the pain and sorrow. As I looked inside the cars and saw the faces of the drivers, I began to wonder what they were thinking, their thoughts and feelings as they traveled down life’s highway, maybe for the very last time. What stories lay behind the faces behind the wheel of each oncoming car? What stories were hidden? Whose voices are now silenced?
