Many thanks to Gina, Wendy, Cheryl and Partners in Crime Virtual Book Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.
Book 3 in the series but could be well read as a standalone, wherein I got to know Kellen and her strange dynamics with killer Mara. The cat and mouse game had me eagerly awaiting to see who would win it.. (Duh! I already knew who, it was more of a case of how).
Mara had escaped the prison, and Kellen and her family had escaped to the remote island to try to evade her. But danger lurked everywhere with ghostly sightings and weird islanders.
My first book by Christina Dodd, the whole atmosphere was more of a family, bonding with each other. I liked Kellen’s determination to rehabilitate post brain surgery, daughter Rae’s cheering and support, and husband Max’s fervent need to protect the family.
The writing was smooth with a hidden mystery, adding an extra layer to the thriller-y plot. A diary found revealed secrets. The author added a few characters, who added to the already eerie atmosphere of the plot.
My niggles too popped up. I wanted more tension and action, racier intelligent plotline which would have sparkled the book.
Nonetheless, the final action scenes uplifted my vengeant heart, and I was thrilled to bits to visualize the game between the two women as it became progressively edgier. A fun afternoon read.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

New York Times bestselling author Christina Dodd writes “edge-of-the-seat suspense” (Iris Johansen) with “brilliantly etched characters, polished writing, and unexpected flashes of sharp humor that are pure Dodd” (ALA Booklist). Her fifty-eight books have been called “scary, sexy, and smartly written” by Booklist and, much to her mother’s delight, Dodd was once a clue in the Los Angeles Times crossword puzzle.
I have three deadly problems:
1. I’ve seriously offended a maniacal killer.
2. I just had a bullet removed from my brain.
3. My new daughter is growing up too fast–and she’s in the line of fire.
Living on an obscure, technology-free island off California means safety from the murderer who hunts Kellen Adams and her new family…. Or does it? Family time becomes terror-time, and at last, alone, Kellen faces a killer playing a cruel game. Only one can survive, and Kellen knows who must win…and who must die

This sounds delish, I wants it
You likes book 1and 2,me thinks
I really think the first two books in this series were better and it helps with this one the final one. I think the first two had more drama, romance, humour. But Christina Dodd never fails in that. I have a previous trilogy to read. Which I think they mention in the books a few times, so need to sit and read those as well.
I agree. This was just okay. I wanted more… Tension was lacking in this
Definitely agree on that, was looking forward to a gripping ending but it dragged a bit for me.
For me too. Maybe her next book would be great
