My review

I chose a light-hearted book to cleanse my reading mojo, to pace the way for an intense read. The book started strong with a loving mother-daughter duo, Ashley and Molly, with grandmother Sue. Ashley had Molly at the tender of 18 after a night of romance, yet could not keep in touch with the boy Hoydon, even after she conceived Molly.

The story moved on to a holiday in South France where the neighbor was none other than the lost boy, now a man and a father. And the whole plot moved on to the fact that Ashley had to tell him about his unknown daughter.

My first book by Tilly Tennant, and the book started extremely strong with good bonds between the women. But it lost its steam somewhere down the lane. Ashley had many opportunities to tell Hoydon about the secret but she loses out to fear. The whole book then dragged a bit where it should have been a cute and a heart warming story.

Second chance at love again felt too rushed, happened in a week. For me, none of the characters felt well developed. I wanted to connect with the characters, and I hate it when they don’t want to connect with me. I felt rejected!

On the whole, it was an enjoyable slow read!!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

My rating : 3 stars

Book blurb

Ashley Moon is all set for a dream holiday with her daughter in the glittering French Riviera.

Ashley got much more than a suntan on her first ever foreign holiday; one whirlwind romance and nine months later she had a daughter, Molly.

It is the perfect setting for a week of quality time together. And just when Ashley thought things couldn’t get any better, comes the news of a handsome new occupant in the villa next door.

But fate has other plans for Ashley. Standing in front of her is Haydon, Molly’s long-lost father and the holiday fling she thought she’d never see again.

As the temperature on the Cote D’Azure steadily rises and Ashley and Haydon begin to spend more and more time together, will Ashley find the courage to tell him who she is – and more importantly, who Molly is?

    1. Well Colline, I ran after the book characters asking them to live me… But they didn’t… So I am gonna read another cute book later in the day to make up for this book

  1. Oh no. Don’t let the book make you feel rejected! 😉 But I know exactly how you feel. I don’t like when I really want to like a book and get into it but something about it blocks the book-reader relationship.

    1. Oh praise the skies, you get me!!! Cozy Babe, now I know why we have ‘kept’ as a part of our awesome threesome… Hahaha 😉😉😂😂 but I really really wanted the book to love me back… Alas like some humans I know, it ran away!! 😂😂😂😂
How you doing, cozy babe? Gimme some love, sugah!! Hahaha do I sound crazy enough. The book slump is doing me in. Trying to read a short story to get over it.
Where is the other angle of our triangle?

  2. I don’t like it when characters don’t want to connect with me either! It’s sad. Well, forget the book, I love you! I hope you find another book that is filled with characters to connect with. 😍❤

  3. Hmm, totally agree with you on that. One of the most important things in a book for me are the characters. And if I can’t really connect with them, or are just not very likeable in the first place, the book usually loses a few points from me. Still glad you liked it overall though, and a lighthearted tale every once in a while is always nice 😊

          1. Oh girl… Me tooo…. Nothing is interesting to me… I am thinking of reading horror and getting scared out of this reading slump

        1. I thought you would have read it… I do have the book… Hehehe girlie, I want someone like Roarke before I close my eyes forever…. Well fingers and toes crossed…

  4. Sorry you could not connect with the characters. I do enjoy Tilly Tennant’s books but they are usually quick to bring everything together. I hope you were able to cleanse your mind though.

    1. I need to read a horror which will be blow me out if this reading slump👻📖… Yayy has the right emoji too.
Well, I am looking for first chance hehehe 😉😉😂😂 Sorry I have a weird sense of humor…
