Many thanks to publisher Bloodhound for my spot on this Book Blast.

Happy Publication Day!!

Quite a different read with an Australian burr to the prose.

Cal Nyx found a decomposed body in the bush while on her trails, and she called it in. The cops investigated. Cal soon found herself being in the list of suspects. And she investigated.

My first book by author Kim Hunt, I liked how the author had etched the characters. They were different and memorable, especially Cal. She reminded me of me in certain facets of her life. She was careless with love, careful with family, stood by people but was let down. Quite a shocker it was when she came to know the victim and family were her friends from long ago.

The story gave me both sides of the investigation. I could see how the cops investigated and the way Cal tried to get information. The killer was a shocker, but it was the writing which got to me. It was swift paced, there was a different tone it. Life of the people in the book added an aura. I didn’t think I had words to express.

The whole book gave me the feel of something broken yet surviving, something ugly yet there was beauty, something lost yet found. Sigh… Well recommended for those who like a different read.

I received a free ARC from the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

In a small rural community north-west of Sydney, park ranger, Cal Nyx, finds a badly decomposed body in the bush. When the remains are identified as someone she once knew, the police treat her as a suspect. Cal, a tough and canny woman, needs to find the killer and convince the police of her innocence.

When it turns out the victim was wanted in relation to a previous murder, the case takes a complicated turn. And with family issues bubbling away in the background, Cal starts to feel the heat.

To make matters worse, Cal has a difficult history, and when the police start probing into her private life, she finds herself in a race against the clock to solve the crime.

But the murderer has Cal in their sights, and she has a choice to make…

Catch a killer or do right by her family?
