Many thanks to publisher Bookouture for my spot on this Blog Tour.

Just when I thought I knew everything about the dark human psyche in fiction, out popped a book which showed me how little I knew. Author Wendy Clarke would definitely have written this in the pitch black atmosphere between midnight and two, when thoughts turned twisty; and smiles, taunting and evil.

Alice came to meet Joanna only on a single message from her to get to know the man she was marrying. Knocking on the door, a strange man opened the door, Mark the fiancé, and Joanna was missing. Alice stayed over to get to the truth.

Having read many of this author’s books, I knew things would be not so apparent. I kept trying to peep in and get to know the sordid secrets. In the first half, both Alice and Mark were quite innocuous. That made me more curious. 3 characters in the book, one was missing, the other two had to know something… Gimme a clue, guys. I almost screamed.

The author then turned benevolent toward me and slowly lifted one veil after the other… Here I thought that was the groom’s job… Oh my, it reminded of the horror story, he lifted the veil and found a zombie… 😂 😂 Not that this was horror. But horrifying truths came out… I didn’t know whom to believe.

The ending was a complete circle and I was left with… Gimme more… Or maybe not… You couldn’t trust those characters… More suspense and thrill right from the beginning would have added to the fun…

Overall, it entertained and kept me glued to my kindle most afternoon.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

The moment Joanna told me she was engaged, I had this awful feeling that something was wrong.

We used to speak on the phone every day. Growing up I spent more time at her house than I did at my own. I’d always imagined what it would be like to see her get married, and now I didn’t even know her fiancé’s name.

She asked me to come and meet Mark and I intended to tell her to slow down. You can’t know someone for a month and be sure that you want to spend the rest of your lives together.

When I got to Joanna’s front door, only Mark was there. He was charming and gorgeous and nothing but nice to me, and I started to understand.

And then he told me that Joanna was missing.

  1. The way you started review, I thought this was another 5 star read and this must be really amazing and then came but.. What with that zombie! Looks like you didn’t get all the answers.

    1. Glad I could do it. I was laughing a bit too much while writing it. Not sure of the author would appreciate such a word in her thriller. But I wasnt getting the right word of a sketentonized figures with worms coming out of the skull… 😂 😂 😂 😂
