My review

One of the most fabulous thrillers written by D. K. Hood. Her last book was too dark for me, so I was a bit apprehensive with this one. But D. K. Hood proved me wrong on all fronts.

She used a fabulous concept of a pay per view channel and gave it heights that had my adrenaline soaring to a fervored pitch. The team of Jenna – Kane – Wolfe are back at the Black Rock Falls. And I loved every line of this book.

I read this in 3 hours flat and believe me, every part worked fluently to make me anxious to get to the bottom of it. I needed to know who the killer was, stat. And yeah, I didn’t expect the person exposed at the end. The book kept me gripped till the end.

The team worked in great camaraderie, I liked their mutual respect and their movements were fluid. Each one knew the others’ strengths. I keep expecting a romantic angle between Kane and Jenna… Well it just remains a hint of a whisper… Maybe the next book would explore it more!!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Bookouture, and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

My rating : 5 stars

Book blurb

It’s hiking season in Black Rock Falls and the small town in Montana is flooded with visitors. But when a hiker finds a human skull on a deserted trail in the woods that surround the town, Detective Jenna Alton is called in to investigate.

With no missing persons reported, Jenna has no leads. Then her team makes a shocking discovery – the body of another hiker, a young man, tied to a tree and riddled with bullets. Could the two murders be linked?

As more bodies are found, Jenna and her deputy David Kane know that they must venture deep into the forest to find and face the killer. But nothing can prepare them for what awaits them there…
