MY REVIEW
Six teens were kidnapped tortured and murdered by the BH killer and one escaped and accused a high school teacher to be the infamous killer.
One person remained unconvinced, Robert who had lost his son to the killer, yet was sure the teacher was innocent. Together with a criminal psychologist who was also his one-night stand, they embarked on the search for truth.
My first book by author A. R. Torre, the premise and the beginning chapters excited me. Then the book slowly lost its steam as it told me more about the personal life of the psychologist and the attraction between Robert and her took precedence.
Things happened like a violent patient, a doubtful cop, Gwen’s own shady ethics, but nothing regarding the fiery blurb. That was pretty much disappointing to me. Come on, you promised me a thriller. Gimme the thrill.
The last 40% redeemed itself to some extent with a few twists and unexpected reveals. I wished there was more of suspense instead of attraction. In fact, it didn’t need the attraction. Can’t two people work together for justice? Ugghhh. I sure can.
And it was obvious the author had done a lot research about behaviors of psycho killer’s and patterns and commonalities, as it all came out during conversations between the characters. I would have liked if active investigation was shown.
Overall, some of the sections could be skipped to get to the last 30 to 40%. Nothing really happened in the interim. I really enjoyed the truth as it came out, caused my pulse to spike.
I am alone in this low ratings. Maybe Gwen would psychoanalyze me on that too.

Finally a review that puts into words what I thought of the book too. Here I thought I was the only one who didn’t find it as thrilling. The twist was good but that’s about it .
