Many thanks to Laura and Lauren and iReads Book Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.
This was a cute read, a cozy mystery which had a robbery, an assault, and a murder in between moments of peace and entertainment, and hints of romance with the lead Detective.
Emma and Grace reporters at the Chicago Tribune were to cover the auction of the diamond jewelry, and you guessed it – the jewels were robbed, and Emma and Grace were spurred to action. Both wanted to prove themselves as serious reporters. Ryan as the lead detective, brought out the heat factor and hints of romance.
My first book by Elizabeth, and I could devour the book in one sitting. An easy to read manner along with cool stuff like loads of great food and deserts, a rooftop pool, and fireworks literally made this book different from other cozies.
Being the first in the Front Page mystery series, understanding the girls proved to be easy. I loved the girls’ loyalty and friendship to each other. Plot was straightforward, and suspects were few. Red herrings at strategic points confused me and made these girls work harder. They uncovered clues, ate their deserts, danced a bit, and went for a spin in the lake.
This book made the stresses of life go away, it was a gentle mystery which made me enjoy the journey of the words down the pages. Absolutely the best breakfast read.
I received a free ARC from Laura and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
Elizabeth McKenna’s love of books reaches back to her childhood, where her tastes ranged from Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King’s horror stories. She had never read a romance novel until one Christmas when her sister gave her the latest bestseller by Nora Roberts. She was hooked from page one (actually, she admits it was the first love scene). She combined her love of history, romance, and a happy ending to write the historical romance novels Cera’s Place and Venice in the Moonlight. Her contemporary romance novel, First Crush Last Love, is loosely based on her life (she eventually married her first crush)
The Great Jewel Robbery is her debut cozy mystery, and she hopes readers will like it as much as they have enjoyed her romances. Elizabeth lives in Wisconsin with her understanding husband, two beautiful daughters, and a sassy Labrador. When she isn’t writing, working, or being a mom, she’s sleeping.
Mystery with a splash of romance…Chicago Tribune reporters Emma and Grace have been best friends since college despite coming from different worlds. When Grace is assigned to cover an annual charity ball and auction being held at a lakeside mansion and her boyfriend bails on her, she brings Emma as her plus one. The night is going smoothly until Emma finds the host’s brother unconscious in the study. Though at first it is thought he was tipsy and stumbled, it soon becomes clear more is afoot, as the wall safe is empty and a three-million-dollar diamond necklace is missing. With visions of becoming ace investigative journalists, Emma and Grace set out to solve the mystery, much to the chagrin of the handsome local detective.

You are the best. Thank you for being there ❤️😘
I also enjoyed this one Shalini. I liked that the major crime was not a murder, although one occurred later in the story. Great review and I am also looking forward to the next one in this series.
Me too… I liked it… It was completely stress free. Perfect breakfast read for me
Sweet review, Shalini. Glad you enjoyed.
Thank you so much ❤️
Sounds like a very gentle and fluffy mystery, which I’m not used to, compared to the psychological thrillers out there that have vicious killers and what not hahah Wonderful review, Shalini. 😀
Hahaha I agree…. This was sweet read, a mystery
Thank you so much ❤️
Wonderful review, Shalini. You make me feel like I need to read a cozy or 2. The idea of mystery, food and dancing makes me smile. Its such an interesting, different idea from the usual darkness of most thrillers. Glad you enjoyed this one so much.
You should read cozy and be cosy… Your baby will love it
