Many thanks to Anne Cater @RandomThingsTours and publisher Orenda Books for my spot on this Blog Tour.
Whew!! What a ride. Evil is as evil does. And nothing could be more malicious than a mind obsessed with destroying a person. OK, that gave me goosebumps.
Meredith was the lead singer of the band Cohen thirty years ago, when suddenly she left the limelight and disappeared. Today she lived a life of ignominy and worked in a gift shop. But small things started happening again, things which raised a tinge of doubt in her mind. Was her stalker back again? And where was her boss Ralph?
My first book by Louise Voss, this was a slow burn thriller which slowly led me into the crux of the story. Narrated in two timelines, Louise allowed me to join the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that was the life of Meredith. I loved how the character was built up in each chapter, telling me exactly who she was without a hint of apology.
The emotions of fear and apprehension leaped off Meredith as certain events came to light. The story showed me the unimaginable plots of a human psyche, how two and two were added together to make five and thoroughly justified. I could only read the reasons with astounded eyes. Such is the human mind.
Ah well, then came my niggles, the story could have been faster and plot lines tightened. Few characters were not really relevant to the plot.
Overall, I had fun reading this book which showed me the psychology of a deranged mind which absolutely thrilled me. That’s what I would call a deconstructed psychological thriller!!
I received a free ARC from Anne Cater, author Louise Voss, and publisher Orenda Books, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
Over her eighteen-year writing career, Louise Voss has had eleven novels published – five solo and six co-written with Mark Edwards: a combination of psychological thrillers, police procedurals and contemporary fiction – and sold over 350,000 books. Her most recent book, The Old You, was a number one bestseller in eBook. Louise has an MA (Dist) in Creative Writing and also works as a literary consultant and mentor for writers at www.thewritingcoach.co.uk. She lives in South-West London and is a proud member of two female crimewriting collectives, The Slice Girls and Killer Women.
At the peak of her career as lead singer of a legendary 1980s indie band, Meredith Vincent was driven off the international stage by a horrific incident. Now living a quiet existence in a cottage on the grounds of an old stately home, she has put her past behind her and come to terms with her new life.
When a body is found in the manicured gardens of her home, and a series of inexplicable and unsettling events begins to occur, it becomes clear that someone is watching, someone who knows who she is … Someone who wants vengeance.
And this is only the beginning…

Thanks for the blog tour support
Thank you for inviting me ❤️
Great review. (Confession time …I had to look up ignominy. So that’s my new word for today! haha ) Thank you!
Hahaha I too had to do that when my keypad suggested this word 😂😂
LOL – me too!
So glad I’m not alone!
I have one book in my library that she wrote with another author I think (unless I’m totally mistaken now). I might skip that one because I feel more like reading this one first. Wonderful review, I think I’d really like this novel!
You are correct… She did co-author other books. This was pure fun
good one
Thank you
how 2 and 2 made 5…. if I say that makes sense would I sound crazy? I’ve read a few stories that weren’t supposed to make any sense and yet I’d be nodding right along as if the logic was right.
And I think that sometimes a few characters should be added to give the story a real life appeal – not everyone in your day to day makes a difference in your life, right?
Haha it made sense in the book as sometimes what is logical to one is illogical to others.
I keep away from people on real life
I read The Old You, and I’m looking forward to this one. Great review, fabulous! xx
I want to read the other book. Hope I get it
Want me to check if I have a spare? 🙂
Honey I will buy it from amazon. But Meggy you have such a generous heart thank you so much… In my life, I haven’t met many good people, but to know that you are offering me a book warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes. Just the thought that you had for me, made my heart so warm. That single thought is more than enough to give me the strength to live my life, knowing I have a friend in you. I have to say this… You are one of the most loving person I have ever met. Thank you for being you ❤️
