MY REVIEW
A thrilling story of a mother searching for the answers behind her daughter’s fall and subsequent brain death.
Having missed out on the opportunity to read the book when it first came out, I quickly grabbed it with both hands, the audio and digital version. Author Christina McDonald was brilliant in writing scenes soaked in emotions that would remain in my heart for a long time.
A mother’s love along with her determination came through as the pages turned. I loved both Abi and Olivia and the constant changing dynamics between them. Angst and love in a teen’s life and worry and caring in a mother’s life were well depicted.
There was suspense in each chapter as Abi came closer to the truth, along with some heartbreaking moments. Past and present were well enmeshed to bring out the complete picture of what happened in the days prior.
The author had outdone herself my embedding all kinds of emotions in the underlying suspense. I had a lump in my throat when Abi looked at the daughter in ventilator and going back to the memories of her birth. A mother’s love is so vast and all-encompassing.
The narrator too was great. Her voice had direction and expression. I liked how she went from high to love with clear intonations. A fun listen/read.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.
