MY REVIEW
This was a great psychological thriller which put me on a rollicking ride from the beginning to end. Author Karen King’s writing kept in smooth in its pace and convoluted in its plotlines, where I was in a conundrum about who was telling me the truth.
A dream marriage broken by violence, Freya had had enough. She’d packed her bags and was about to leave when the cops visited her. Her husband had been in an accident and was critical.
In the hospital, she barely had time to make a tough decision when she came to know Phil had lost his memory of the past 2 years of marriage. He didn’t remember the abuse. Hoping for the best this time around, she went home with him. But things started to happen around the house, and tempers started rising.
I read the first few pages and thought I had figured it out. But no, the author flummoxed me completely and my theories were shattered. The story kept playing me like a yo-yo and I didn’t know which way to turn. This was told in Freya and Phil’s POV with input from others.
Freya’s dilemma, her sister Daisy’s support, Phil’s confusion and his slow transformation kept me hooked to my kindle. Having been in Freya’s place where I knew I was not being treated well yet stayed in the relationship, I could identify with her.
The story had its dips and highs leading to a expectedly unexpected finish. The book was UNPUTDOWNABLE as it kept me completely engrossed in the prose.
P. S. Traumatic brain injury and coma could cause death of certain centers in the brain and cause a personality change in patients.
