Many thanks to Sarah and BOTBS Publicity for my spot on this Blog Tour.

Wow!! I didn’t expect to like this book so much. No offense to the author.

The book started with the main character Brooks and his friends being bullied. Then came a missing girl, a so called mad professor, a weird man, a dead body, and a murderer.

My first book by author Shawn Burgess, and what an unexpected read it was. Man, I was sucked in… No idea if it was the writing or the strange characters in the book!! Just kidding. Got to be honest, the writing was quite different for me to get the visual image initially. But hold on….

As I turned the pages, the thriller aspect of the story came into view, and I was enthralled. Gimme a good horror to read anytime. This was one heck of a ride with science and horror mixed together. It triggered my thriller-y heart and made me in awe of the author’s mind.

I would have liked a bit more horror to knock me out. But having not read books by the kings of horror, I would say the book worked for me more as a thriller. The characters became real as the pages turned. I liked knowing how the cops worked in this town. Working in tandem, the story did come to its expected ending.

Overall, a thriller of a read over breakfast.

I received a free ARC from Sarah and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

When a young autistic girl goes missing in the small Appalachian town of Harper Pass, Brooks Raker and his friends are inadvertently drawn into the police investigation. As the town suffers a mysterious death, more kids disappear and the boys experience a series of unsettling phenomena; it becomes clear that the fate of their missing classmate, Margo Combs, pales in comparison to what lies in wait in the margins of the town.

Between avoiding the bullies who are stalking them, and running from the encroaching lethal darkness, the walls are closing in around Brooks and his friends. They soon realize their fates are inextricably bound, and if they have any hope of surviving, they must unravel the dark secrets of Harper Pass before those secrets can devour them.

    1. Hehehe I almost thought that this would something to do with mafia and stuff due to the words tear collector… No idea why
When it turned out to be a horror… I was all yayy

      1. Horror used to be my favourite genre, Stephen King being my absolute favourite until I discovered James Patterson and now crime and psychological thrillers are my favourite. Sadly never read another Stephen King book since of which I had read loads but am so far behind now. Loved this one as reminded me how much i do enjoy the genre, x

        1. I haven’t read any of king.. I am supposed to, this year… I might get time if I stop doing Tours.. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

  1. First the cover draws me in I just love the colors. Then I read your review and I am like yep another one that’s going to be added to my TBR but I’m a little skeptical because you said science was involved and I hate science.

  2. I had to stop reading Stephen King after Tommy Knockers – due to sleep deprivation – despite being totally creeped out, I could never find a stopping place and couldn’t seem to put it down.
