MY REVIEW
Alice and Leo had moved to a gated community into a newly renovated house, a place which would make it a home with their love. The neighbors too seemed to be a friendly lot, except one. A stranger, under an assumed identity, entered her home, and Alice got to know the truth. The earlier owner, Nina had been murdered there… in her home… She was The Therapist.
Reading a book by author B. A. Paris after such a long time, I was so excited as the book had a great premise. I liked the unsuspecting beginning of the book which felt to lay down the path to a life upturned. Soon. I liked how Alice was determined to find out the real killer of Nina as she felt an outworldly presence at her home. No, this was not supernatural or occult but just a vibe.
The story was really supposed to be a suspenseful, perhaps a psychological thriller, but nothing really happened for the first 60% only the rehashing of the same facts using different words. They kept going round and round until I decided to take the direct line and skip paragraphs to get to the bottom of the murder.
The last 30% was good where things started happening. False clues and twists had me feeling happy that the book could be salvaged. Overall, an okay read. Get it on a sale or if my review intrigues you. Hahaha

BOOK BLURB
When Alice and Leo move into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses, it is everything they’ve dreamed of. But appearances can be deceptive…
As Alice is getting to know her neighbours, she discovers a devastating, grisly secret about her new home, and begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist who lived there before.
Alice becomes obsessed with trying to piece together what happened two years before. But no one wants to talk about it. Her neighbours are keeping secrets and things are not as perfect as they seem…

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.

I am not a big fan of this author. Onto better Shalini!
I think this is one to skip – I appreciate your honest reviews. I find lackluster books the most difficult to review.
Nice review Shalini. Her last book was a bit meh for me, so I don’t think I will bother with this one.
Yah.. I didn’t read her last one so didn’t know it was meh. This came recommended by some bloggers hence I got it. Waste of money
Good review Shalini, thinking to skip this.
Better. Not worth it. I bought it on some recommendations. Want to give it back. We need libraries
I haven’t been so lucky with this author. I loved ‘Behind Closed Doors’ but none of her other books since. Glad to hear that this was at-least an okay read.
oh ugh…sorry bout that. sounds like one i’ll pass.
Ya… It was nothing good. Even the ending was meh
well, rats–sorry bout that. sometimes i bite on recommendations that turn out not to be for me either.
Good review, but it sounds like everything except a bit in the middle was not actually well done. Thanks for sharing your honest opinions.
