Ah well!! There I go completing 2 years today!!

Thank you Victoria Joss and Publisher Aria for my spot in the Blog Tour.

I have to declare it right here, right now – Shari Low is bloody brilliant!! Her writing caused waves of emotion to course through me, sometimes they were gentle, filled with love and warmth and the other, they were swirling and thrashing where I wanted nothing more than shake some sense into the characters.

Her portrayal of the characters in this book were so dynamic that the contrariness of each came into the forefront like a burst of radiance. She showed both ends of the spectrum in this story. Denise, a lousy mother who pandered to her husband Ray’s wishes even at the cost of her children’s well being and Claire who was the best mother but neglected her husband to the point they broke up. Denise and Claire were mother and daughter. Then Ray died and that unveiled the truth, it revealed his vileness. UghhhI hated that selfish boor of a man!!!

Emotions were a tempest, and I could do nothing but stand strong like the rocks with the waves beating on to me, making me feel love, anger, tears, sadness, frustration, and resignation. Whew!! Did I not tell you the author is bloody brilliant?!! And every stroke of her pen was dipped in the sheer mastery of her words. How I loved to be in the center of such raging emotions!! The last line of the book made me laugh manically and say – Here we go again.

Shari Lowe’s book taught me one important thing. Some people don’t change, and it is no use giving them second and third chances. That’s one chance too many. Read the book, if you will, for the beautiful emotions with friendship and love galore.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Aria, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

All my reviews can be read here

Shari Low is the No1 best-selling author of over 20 novels, including One Day In December, A Life Without You, The Story Of Our Life, With Or Without You and her latest release, Another Day In Winter. And because she likes to over-share toe-curling moments and hapless disasters, she is also the shameless mother behind a collection of parenthood memories called Because Mummy Said So. Once upon a time she met a guy, got engaged after a week, and twenty-something years later she lives near Glasgow with her husband, a labradoodle, and two teenagers who think she’s fairly embarrassing except when they need a lift.

This is… Denise.
Married to Ray, her first and only love, Denise has never for one moment regretted putting the husband she idolised on a pedestal above everyone and everything else. But, after forty years of marriage, he is gone, leaving Denise to discover that their perfect marriage was fatally flawed. Now she faces a future alone, but first she must face the betrayals of the past.

This is… Claire.
The estranged daughter of Denise, the woman who put her husband before her children, Claire took the opposite path and devoted her life to raising her family, sacrificing her marriage along the way. With her teenage sons about to flee the nest, she realises she may have left it too late to find her own happy ever after.

This is the story of two women, both alone, both cautionary tales of one of motherhood’s biggest decisions.

Who is more important, your partner or your children? And what happens if you make the wrong choice?

  1. Congrats on your two-year blogging anniversary!!! You’re certainly a pro at this, and a great inspiration to blogger-wanna-be’s! I always know if I want to be entertained that all I have to do is visit Shalini’s blog. 🙂 And a great review, by the way. Glad the book kept you so engrossed. Happy Wednesday! 🙂 🙂

  2. Congratulations!!! You are an inspiration to me for sure, Shalini 💕 And this is such a beautifully written post and review!!! One of the things I love about you is the way you write ❤️

  3. Fabulous review Shalini. This sounds so emotional, yet compelling. I am adding it right now, see, I added it. Congrats on your two years of blogging. Keep going for many more.

        1. Hahaha… I don’t think so.. I made a comment on someone else’s comment and she blasted me… Because I found autocorrects by phone funny. I had to apologize 5 times… 🤦‍♀️

          1. Her phone autocorrected shot to shit so I said it is the other way around… So she quickly said it was a typo and I should be sympathetic to her and I have hurt her by laughing 😂 emoji… 🤦‍♀️🙆🤷‍♀️

          2. 😂😂 Don’t you get angry with my laughing emoji. I am actually very sad. One of my favorite author is no more. Emma Hannigan. I have read only one book by her as too expensive

  5. Congratulations Shalini! I don’t read the books you write about but enjoy reading your reviews very much.Sometimes I have trouble keeping up with you as you may have noticed!!!
    Happy blogging!
