Many thanks to Rachel and Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on this Blog Tour.
Author Jay Raven is the best in the field to pen a horror with a Gothic historical feel to it. I loved the chilling atmosphere the words cast on the story.
A rich powerful earl spurned, a woman in love with a soldier, and two witch finders, the inquisitors casting an accusation horrifying, found themselves embroiled in a shivery tale of lust and revenge. There was a strange dynamic to them all.
At 84 pages, the author managed to give a complete story which had me feeling the emotions of outrage, anger, and above all, vengeance. Never had I been so happy than to see the cauldron being used, a spell being read, and personal items being added to change the flow of the story and bring about the shocker of a twist. Innocence was lost when retribution was planned.
The author’s mind would certainly have been a scary place when he conceptualized this story. All the characters were slotted in such a way that they revealed their evil subtly till the plot demanded them to become demented. Fear was then added to the mix when realization came to fruition. The story flowed over this at a steady pace, showing the richer shades of black. Evil shimmered, plotting its way to the surface.
Was the book scary? Not so much. But it had the extra something in it, a plotline to soothe my vengeant heart.
Would I love to cast such a spell? Oh no…. I would probably go further and make the pecker shrivel and fall off!!
I received a free ARC from Rachel and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Jay Raven is the author of Gothic chillers and historical horror reminding readers that the past is a dangerous place to venture, full of monsters and murderous men.
He blames his fascination with vampires, witches and werewolves on the Hammer Horror films he watched as a teenager, but living in a creepy old house on the edge of a 500-acre wood may have something to do with it.
A chilling historical tale of lust, sorcery and devastating revenge.
No female dares spurn the lecherous advances of Sir Henry Cruttendon, 17th Century England’s most reviled nobleman. To do so risks a retribution that would terrify the Devil himself.
But Elizabeth Fiennes is no ordinary woman, blessed with stunning beauty, intelligence and guile. Coming from an influential family, she believes she is safe. What she doesn’t understand is that the Earl is determined to satisfy his lust at any cost and plans to use the wave of witch trials, fear and superstition sweeping the countryside to force her into his clutches.
And as he springs his malicious trap it triggers a chain of unholy events plunging hunter and prey into a maelstrom of deceit, terror and depravity – leaving them both staring into the face of true evil…
