This was a cute read. The story goes thus, 30 years ago Hannah ran away from home at age 16, and Bryony and her family have been searching for her in all these years. Her father’s stroke and ill-health makes it all the more imperative to find her. So Bryony decides to take part in a game show and hopes she can find her sister who loves these shows.
The concept was cute, the writing smooth. The tasks and the quizzes of this game show were written well by author Carol Wyer. Quite a different set of pace and genre for this talented author. It was quite exciting to read them all.
My niggles came on a bit early, it was not a humorous tale as said in the tag line. The game show dominated the book, so the emotions got diluted. I kept wondering as to why would Hannah watch the quiz show which she liked at age 16,may not like it at age 46. The reasons for Hannah staying away from parents for 30 years felt flimsy especially when she herself had a 15 year old daughter.
The characterization caught my eye, I stuck to the story as I was connected to Bryony who was sweet, persistent, and quite bold and humorous. Her struggles with childhood illness were well described. In spite of it all, she did grow up to be an intelligent, strong woman who was a great support to her parents and who had a blog dedicated to finding her sister. Lewis as love interest understood her well, there was a connection. Her best friend Melinda was fabulous.
Overall, an enjoyable read from the multi-talented author.
P. S. The pug in the cover was another contestant’s Instagram famous pet who had more likes than I do!! 😂 😂
I received an ARC from NetGalley and publisher Canelo and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

Would you take part in such a quiz show on national television?
Bryony Masters has been looking for her long-lost sister, Hannah, for years, but when their father has a stroke her search takes on new urgency. So when primetime game show, What Happens in France, puts a call-out for new contestants, Bryony spots the ultimate public platform to find her reality TV-obsessed sister, and finally reunite their family.
With the help of handsome teammate Lewis, it’s not long before she’s on a private jet heading for the stunning beauty of rural France. With a social media star dog, a high maintenance quiz host and a cast of truly unique characters, Bryony and Lewis have their work cut out for them to stay on the show and in the public eye.
Yet as the audience grows and the grand prize beckons they find that the search that brought them together may just fulfil more than one heart’s wish…

Sounds like an interesting read. Definitely a different concept with the game show. Great review, Shalini. 😊
This was a cute read… the game quests were good..
I’d like to think I might just hire a private detective to find a long lost loved one.
Hehehe… They tried with the PI but no result but Instagram caused the niece to see the dog who was part game show and then the mother saw all the pics and said – that’s my sister then she went to the blog and mailed her – whew…
Instagram was the cause factor here…. So I am on Instagram now… 😂 😂
Great review ❤
Thank you so much ❤️ Priyasha
I am pulled by the synopsis and premise, but your review saves me from being sucked in and I thank you for that. I so appreciate an honest review.
Oh darling you are so sweet… My comments on your post have gone into spam, methinks.. Kindly check 🙈
But that Pug really is cute! Lol
Yes that’s why has more than 1 million followers and likes… On Instagram it is star!! 😂 😂
Hahaha
Great, fair review Shalini ❤ You put books into words so well!
Aww Britts you are awesome thank you… ❤️
Some people just never grow old. There are shows I love as a 11 year old which I still watch now more than 3 decades later haha 😀
But it sound like the cover is misleading. For me that’s step one to stop reading.
The dog was one of the contestants pet, and main character did have a selfie with it to put up on Instagram… But it wasn’t her dog.. 😂
it does sound like a cute read Shalini. Good review too. Have a blessed day honey 😉
Oh darling, I am always happy when I see your comment… 😘😍 Thank you. Have a peaceful night and a great day 💖

Sounds like an interesting read.
It is a cute read.. Thank you Moushmi 💖
Sounds like a different premise for a book. I have always wanted to take part in a quiz show, I would do it in a minute, although, I know I would freeze and know all the answers the next day. Nice review Shalini, too bad it was not as described.
Hahaha I love seeing the shows… But I too would go blank on them… 😂
