D. K. Hood’s books have the best police procedural in them, one of my auto-downloads. Jenna and Kane combination gets me every time; I am always excited when I start to read their story. And now with hints of cuddles between them, I love these books all the more.

This story too had a killer kidnapping young girls and killing them. But the difference was that he sent a video and gave Jenna a time frame to find him.. Tick Tock… Tick Tock… the time sped and Jenna was late…. Till the serial killer set his sights on Jenna herself.

Having read all of author D. K. Hood’s books, I found her writing fluid. Race against time was the beat these cops worked on. Always on the back foot and one step behind, their determination were fathoms ahead of the killer. Nothing and nobody could stop Jenna from finding him, not even 2 bullet wounds at the back.

The team, as always, was extremely cohesive. Even with a troubled mind, Jenna gave the perfect orders, she knew how to lead her men. The one thing which caught my eye was these cops, especially Jenna, felt extreme fear, one which crippled their brains and shook the soul out of their bodies, but they always faced it bravely, taking one on their chin. D. K Hood’s writing showed its brilliance when I got to see Jenna’s core of steel, the way she straightened her spine, in spite of mind-numbing fear. Always inspiring.

The story reached its shocking end with the identity of the killer. And no, I didn’t guess it. The two halves of my brain kept warring, one wanted to play detective, other just read. A great police procedural by a talented author.
