This was one of the most cute pictures books read in recent times. Written by Ilham Alam and illustrated by Kerry Bell, the book captured my attention from the first page. There is something so innocent and pure to see a mother and child going for a walk and discovering the wonders of nature.
Ilham Alam’s story had me smiling as I turned the pages. Little Johnny’s curiosity and awe at seeing a sunflower, a bug, mama bird with baby bird touched my heart. What we forget to see when we go for our walks, the children see them clearly.
The story, told as a poem with simple rhyming words, made perfect sense. It was just too sweet. Ilham Alam is quite talented with her words. I loved the way Kerry Bell has drawn the pictures, it drew my eye to all the tiny details. At 22 pages, I wanted more of it, but it would be just perfect for my 3 year old niece. I would say the book would work for kids between 2 to 4 years
I love picture books, it keeps the child in me alive. And this is one of them. Just perfect for me and my niece.
I received a digital copy of the book from the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

Ilham (the “H” is the same “H” as in hat) lives in Toronto, Canada, with her family that includes a very lazy cat. Toronto is called a “city within a park” for good reason, due to all its public parks and greenery in every neighbourhood, from which Ilham drew inspiration for this book while out for her own wonder walks with her kids.

Aww! Since retiring from library service I’m a bit out of the loop regarding picture books, but without a doubt this would be one I would have used at Storyhour.🤗

Lovely. Reminded me of the time my daughter’s curiosity lead to looooong walks. We loved poring over books too. Thank you for taking me down memory lane, Shalini.
Aww Jaya, so happy to know you have a daughter… Glad that you had fond memories of those times
Shalini! I didn’t know you also review picture books! Let me know if you’re interested in reviewing ALIANA REACHES FOR THE MOON! 📚🌙💜
I think I mailed you Laura long back that I would review your book any time you ask me to… But since you didn’t, I assumed you didn’t want me to… 🙈
Love the illustrations 🙂
It was really, really sweet and so innocent
Great review 💞❤❤
Thank you Priyasha ❤️
This sounds really sweet. I have a soft spot for picture books about moms and little ones. Probably because my kids are nearly grown. You are right, there is something so nice about seeing a mother and child out for a walk. I have many memories of these walks and this book has brought them back!
Oooh that is so sweet… I have no memories as I can’t have kids… But I have a niece now, and there is no walking.. I am only running… 😂 😂
Love those little ones – I always get a lift when I seen them! 🧡 I’m sure you have lots of fun with your niece. It’s great to be an aunt, too! 😊
Yp… I am trying… To be a good one
Thank You Shalini for reviewing Wonder Walk. I’m very thrilled that you and your readers enjoyed it.

Yes! Thank you for recommending, Shalini! This is fun, and very good for children to learn foreign languages like English too. What efforts i always make to motivate some of my relatives to do so. Michael
Thank you so much Michael you are very sweet 😍
😍😍 You too Shalini (and you know this 😍)
This looks and sounds like such an adorable book. You are so right, children make us stop and smell the roses, so to say. I love taking walks with my grandchildren.
